Bugaboo seat won't click into position...

Hi
Does anybody have experience with this problem?

We haven't used it since DS1 moved into his Maclaren 2 yrs ago and are now getting it out to use wih baby due in dec. It is in good condition (a cameleon) and I can't see any fault in the mechanism..... it is the two white circular buttons either side of the frame that although push in as they should, seem to get stuck and won't click back out and lock the seat.....

Any ideas??
Many thanks

Just in case anyone else has this problem and does a mumsnet search on it- I emailed Bugaboo HQ asking for advice including the bugaboos serial number. They emailed me back apologising for the problem and are sending replacement parts with instructions.... I was sure the warranty would be well and truly out of date being as it's 3 yrs old! Pretty impressive I think.

yes there was a problem with some of the older models and the white buttons not working right, so hope it works with new parts

I know this is an old thread but we have the same problem with out 3.5 year old Cameleon. Bugaboo telling me it's out of warranty and they can't do anything, but I cannot find anywhere to order the spare parts we need to fix it. Mothercare (our original retailer) being typically unhelpful. Anyone??

Hiya I bought a second hand cam and the buttons were sticking. I went to John Lewis and they ordered new buttons for me, £17 I think and they took 6 weeks to arrive. They were easy to fit and the pram is perfect now :) sod mothercare, speak to John Lewis instead!

Our bugaboo seat had stopped locking into position, but managed to fix it as follows:- Unscrew the Phillips screw on the other side of the white button. Do one at a time so you don't get the sides mixed up. The 2 sides will pull apart and the middle white button section will come out. Use a flat head screwdriver to push the 3 white clips in that hold the button in place. Take the white button piece of plastic out. Place the rest of the mechanism carefully to one side so it doesn't come apart . (Not a problem if it does, but just a bit difficult to line back up). Use some rough sandpaper to rub down the outside of the white disc. Take 1-2mm off all the way round. Doesn't have to be perfect. Smooth off with some finer sandpaper. Put back together and reassemble the unit. Do the same on the other side. Remember to put the seat frame back in to test. It should work fine. Don't know why, but it seems the white buttons swell over time. Maybe they were slightly curved when new, and repeatedly pushing them in makes them flatter and with a larger diamerter. Good luck, worked fine for me and pram working like new.

I had this exact problem on a bugaboo push chair a friend passed on to me. I used the advice above, sanded down the push buttons and hey presto, all is good.
Thanks for this advice. Definitely saved me money.
