Is my Bee Chassis broken? advice needed....

I'm not sure if my chassis on my bee is dodgy or not so woul appreciate any advice from fellow bee owners.
When i unfold it and pull on the handlebars, the handlebar lock doesn't seem to work and the handlebar just extends as i pull.
Does this happen to everyones or is mine faulty. I bought it new in Feb so it is still under warranty. It has always done this but I'm worried that over time the lock might stop working altogether.
hope someone can help

When you unfold it you should pull on the bits below the handlebar adjustment thing as pulling on the handlebars can cause it to break.

My handlebars go on forever too. It's quite easy for the locks to flip up while you are folding/ unfolding. Are they definitely down and the handlebars are still extending?

Tambajam - they are definitely still clipped down.

Horsemadgal - The only reason i pull the handlebars is because the instruction tell you to do this, so i guess it should withstand being pulled without the clips breaking.

Do you know who i contact about it to check, is it bugaboo themselves or the retailer i bought it from?

That's not good. I would start with bugaboo as it'll need to end up there in the end for repair or warranty claim. I wonder if they give you a temporary pram like a garage gives a service car - they should.

Hi
I bought mine in John lewis. I am finding the folding mechanisum a bit stiff, so I popped in to John lewis the other day to ask about it. John lewis assistant said THEY (the shop) would deal with it if it is faulty. (not sure it is, might just be very new!)

If you bought it in a shop I would pop in and show them. If you bought it online then maybe worth getting in touch with Bugaboo direct, I have heard that they often replace the chassis without a fuss.

Hope this helps

hi mrswee thanks for that. I bought it online from peppermint.co.uk. They are really good and I'm sure they would deal with it but i think i'll just contact bugaboo direct as it will probably be easier to do it that way.
i'll let you know how i get on

Hi again

update-

I decided to take mine into John lewis yesterday after trying again to fold it and having more problems.
I had spoken to an assistant in advance and they had phoned bugaboo with my chassis serial number.
I was given a new chassis with no argument, as soon as I arrived in the shop after bugaboo had agreed it.

Hopefully bugaboo will be as good to you!

wow, that's great service. I have emailed bugaboo but still haven't heard anything.
Think i'll call peppermint and see what they have to say.

Hiya

I recently brought a second hand Bee, after having the cam i was desperate to try. After arriving and using twice the bee has broke!! The handle bar fixings have failed and this is causing the chassis to buckle!!

I've contacted the previous owner who 'doesn't' have the warrenty so i then contacted Bugaboo direct who have told me a new chassis will set me back £169. Which i have invoiced the preious owner for as they obviously sold it knowing it was faulty.

Bugaboo told me my problem is very common and along with the brake issue. But to be fair as always they are happy to help but do take a while to answer emails!!

In comparision to my Cam im disapointed as it isnt as roomy and the ride isnt as smooth but on a plus side it is easier on public transport and smaller for the car.
I wouldnt have been so happy if i'd spent £400 plus on the Bee!!!

bellaboo that's terrible. Can't believe someone would sell something on knowing there was a problem. they must have known.
To be honest that's why i bought mine new as when i was looking a noticed that there seemed to be a lots of bees for sale on ebay with brand new chassis. I figured that people must be getting these as replacements so i knew there must be some faults.
So glad I did now.
