DD2 is 2 so just want a stroller but it must lay back and have a raincover. I dont know where to start and dont have a big budget.

anyone suggest anything?

Maclaren everytime...

would recommend XT as it would see you through all the way til she no longer needs a buggy as its got a large seat, the best raincovers and larger wheels than most strollers. also lifetime warranty. More expensive but so worth it.

OMG just had a look and they are £170 ish.

No way could i spend that on a stroller, i was thinking more of £50-£60.

ebay everytime. there are loads on there in your budget.

sorry i meant to say you won't be able to afford a new one if your budget is small but ebay have loads, you would be able to get an older one for that amount. or a brand new obaby but as with many things you really do get what you pay for and if you are using it alot i'd get a mac.

Obaby are good for a smaller price than maclarens. We just got one for £75 from mothercare (they are expensive, could get one cheaper elsewhere) which lies almost flat and has a raincover included.

We chose this over the cheaper Mothercare own brand model because that didn't come with a raincover and didn't have a very good recline. We would have paid again for the raincover which bumps the cost up.

seats are much narrower tho?

girlsyearapart Fri 28-Aug-09 18:57:52

Also been looking at same.
obaby lie flat ones are 70 quid. Mamas and papas have some decent ones from 50 ish.Try argos.
We still haven't decided though!

Oh, I'm not sure, you might be right. My DS is only 11 months so haven't thought about that yet! I just remember reading on here that Obaby are the next best thing to Maclaren (which brand new is out of our price range too) and we were kind of in Mothercare yesterday having to buy one there and then because we are going away tomorrow.

Sorry that was aimed at nicolamumof3's comment about seats being narrower.

Best bet I always think is to go into a big baby shop and have a try with a few of them, (I literally put DS in the display models and pushed him around the shop) then you know what you are looking for and can come away and find the best price online.

i agree the obaby is a great buggy for the price, i bought one myself once as a stop gap and thought it compared very well with the quest at twice the price for my then 18m old but my 2.5yr old looked squashed in it. it was definitely narrower than the xt. so for a 2yr old thats why i think a secondhand xt would be better purchase smile

I'm raving about my new pushchair after advice from a mumsnetter! It's a Babydan Stockholm anti-tip pushchair - £39 from ebay! It reclines pretty much flat, umbrella fold, roomy and comfy and comes with raincover. My dd is 27 months and was perfect buy for her - my 5 yo can even fit in it!!

I second the babydan s...mine is in the candy stripe...gorgeous....it takes up to a fair weight...cant remember the exact but have an inkling its up to 25kgs! but dont quote me on that! has anti tip weights fitted on the wheels so can put things on the handle bars...we used it last year for skiing for our then 3yrs old...she's now 4 (although is slight in statue and weight) fits in it with room to spare....have recently used it for our 7 month old whilst im waiting for my reversable pushchair....reclines near enough flat, has an extending bit for legs so its like laying flat out iyswim, also can fold flap back on hood so can view babes, raincover preety good too....oh and have matching bag...fab fabfab!lol
