Has anyone made a new hood for a coachbuilt pram?

What did you use?
I was thinking about the material from roller blinds? It seems the same as my old hood?
Would i just cover the old hood or strip it down to the rods and use the old one for a template? Can you get some kind of waterproof spray?
Also the hood i want to replace has been replaced before, and it is a bit of a mess, it just has hoodlace round the front, no front trim iykwim.
Any advice would be great thanks! I've never replaced a hood before.
