What is a pram bumper bar for?

I have bought a travel pram (Joolz Aer) which doesn’t come with a bumper bar as standard. Do I need one? I can’t actually think what it’s for.

No, you don't need one.

It can be used to attach toys. Some babies use it to do sit ups with or chew. If something fell at exactly that angle onto the buggy it would stop it hitting the baby.

But no you don't actually need one.

We had exactly that conversation earlier. We found ours on the loft because we've never used (and never missed) it for our 16 month old.

It's useful once they're older if they like to sit up and lean forwards. But a lot of pushchairs that are suitable from birth don't have a deep enough seat to accommodate this anyway so it's not really needed.
