I bought a used baby zen pram from eBay . Sent the husband to pick up since I was working. The pram seemed in working order however as I've been out with it one of the wheels makes a loud rattling noise. Also the rain cover provided is not the correct one and is also very misty. Like it's been covered in something so you can't actually see out of it. The buggy itself is dirty and not as clean as appears in the photos.

The item was described with the rubbish rain cover but not that it's not the right one for the pram. There was no mention of the wheel defect or the fact that it was dirty and needed cleaning.

I contacted the seller to return it but haven't heard anything. I paid 275 for it and a brand new one is 380. I figure I might as well just buy it brand new if second hand I get a vastly inferior product

Is it unreasonable to return it ?

Sounds reasonable to me. I guess they might be difficult though as arguably your husband could (should?) have inspected it when he picked it up. PayPal pretty much always sides with the buyer though so should be ok if you paid that way

I should say I saw on YouTube that the rattling is probably down to a spoiled ball bearing which is easy to replace by going to a bike shop.

Then I need a new rain cover which I could get for second hand

So either I relist it with the wrong and faulty rain cover and the rattling wheel . I might not get the same value plus I'd have spent money on repairs

Or get a rain cover and fix the wheel myself

Or return it to the seller

Thought ?

Thanks @ChelseaCat . Great that I paid via PayPal.

If the seller isn't responding then put in a item not as described claim to Ebay. How did you pay? If paypal you have some protection but if it was cash on collection you may have some trouble returning and getting your money back especially if the seller was chancing their luck with the description.
Hope it gets sorted.

Cross post. Great that you used paypal. Definitely report to ebay and follow their process. You should be able to return & get your money back without much hassle.

So I thought I'd post for posterity.

I sent the DH to return the pushchair. The guy seems okay about it but DH felt very awkward.

I've since purchased a brand new one and discovered the one that the eBay seller was offloading was the older model with a very small basket and doesn't have the ability to convert to include a newborn car seat.

Overall the new one plus the foot muff cost £489. While I didn't want to spend that much I'm very pleased with the pushchair. I have a small house with little storage and this one fits under the stairs cupboard nicely instead of clogging up the hallway.
