Possible to return pram?

Hi Guys. Im really frustrated over a pram which I purchased back in May 2019. I didnt use it much in the beginning but as im doing school runs now I find it faulty and not safe for my child. I therefor would like to know if it can be returned or changed to a different pram. It was a pram bought in Mothercare and they only take returns if its still in its packaging, which this clearly isnt. I just dont want it at all so a change to a different pram would mean so much. The one I have had NO suspensions so my child really moves when it goes on different terrains. She looks destressed and im sure its not good for her back. Another issue is when going over curbs. I have to stop and press the bar at the bottom with my foot each time, as its heavy it takes time where as many other prams you just press the handle down to get it over a curb and it goes smoothly and unnoticed. This is a major problem when crossing roads. It takes time abd i have cars horning which adds more frustration. As my baby is still little and i need it for some time I wanted to know if a return or change could be possible. Please help. TIA x

It doesn't sound faulty, it just seems as though it doesn't have what you want in a pram and that is different. No suspension or being heavy isn't a fault unless the description says it has suspension and is lightweight. You can contact Mothercare and ask but based on what you have said I don't think you have a legal right for a refund or exchange.

It’s not faulty though, is it? It just sounds like you chose one that isn’t suited to your lifestyle/needs. There’s no return policy for that.

Unfortunately these seem like compromises you might expect with prams that don't have suspension or a lightweight frame- you only realise how much of an issue they are for you personally when you're actually using it day to day. For someone who only uses their pram rarely or places like shopping centres etc it might be perfect.

Realistically the only thing you can do is try and sell it on and replace it with something that suits your needs better.

Unless it has a manufacturing fault (doesn't sound like it) you need to sell it yourself. You can't return a product you have used

What pram is it? I've taken 2 back to mothercare now because they've had faults and each time they've admitted they get it all the time. One of the faults with my first mothercare pram was how rubbish the wheels were for turning and manoeuvring so it's clearly common in their prams. I returned my replacement pram yesterday because it's also now broken and they admitted they'd sent so many prams off to be repaired or replaced that all their loan prams were also out. I think you'd probably get away with returning it as not fit for purpose and swapping it for something else.

It's not faulty and if you've had it so long I doubt mothercare will do anything as you're well out of the cooling down period.

Chalk it up to experience, sell it on and get something better suited to you.

It sounds as pp said more that it's not what you want in a pram than a faulty one. You could ask I suppose, no harm in that but be prepared for them to say no.

I laughed at "cars horning"Grin thanks for that. I was having a shit morning

I got a year guarantee from the day my baby was born with my pram not the day I bought the pram. With mothercare. Is it a mothercare brand? Mine was silvercross so maybe it’s different with different brands ?

It isn’t faulty and it was purchased 5 months ago.
Sell it & buy one that you’ve tried out and like better.

As others have said, it doesn't sound faulty. It just sounds like you bought something different to what you wanted.

One of my pushchairs (the one that stays in the car) doesn't have any suspension, but I find my newborn prefers it and sleeps longer in it than my main pram which has suspension.

If you're on Facebook, you can join local baby or pushchair selling groups and see if anyone wants to swap. Or you could sell it and buy another. These groups are also great for buying. Or you'll just need to get used to it I'm afraid.

Which pram is it? I agree it sounds like it's just not suited to your lifestyle, but it might be better when your child is a bit older. Once they can sit up things like suspension don't matter as much. You might also keep it for smoother terrains and get one which is better suited for the school run for now.

Sell it and buy another 2nd hand one to see if you get on with it. All my prams have been 2nd hand, I've used them for maybe couple months and if I didn't get on with it I just sold it on and got another one. I've got an icandy peach now and love it. Also loved the mothercare my3 which is a few years old now but it was so easy to use! 1 of the best pras I had

if you have problems at the kerbs etc then its faulty. a pram should be suitable for that automatically.

Report
bluebell34567 · 25/09/2019 18:55

and also, you can say your baby is not comfortable in it.

It does not sound faulty or not fit for purpose, rather that you are funding it cumbersome to use. I don't think you can simply return it now and expect refund or replacement.

I disagree bluebell. Most prams need to be lifted on to curbs and depending on your strength and prams weight it'll be easier for some than others. But doesn't mean it's faulty or give any right to expect a return or refund. She can say her baby might not be comfortable in it, but I bet there are babies who are! The baby might just hate being in pram altogether and prefer to be in a sling.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I think I will try to take it to Mothercare and check with them, and if not then I havd to sell it and but another. Its a silvercross which is a good and known brand so im very disappointed. Its the suspension that bothers me and then getting it over the curbs. 😔 Thanks once again everyone for taking time and giving me a reply 😊 xx

Break a wheel on it n take it back

All you can do is take it in store with your receipt and see if they will give you store credit out of goodwill. They accepted back a changing bag out of packaging that wasn't faulty just not what I wanted but this is really down to luck with who you speak to.

Have you tried asking on Netmums?
They are experts on prams hun xxx

JustLooking2019 · 27/09/2019 21:47

A changing bag out of packaging can still be sold, a pushchair that has been used, cannot be sold. They won’t take it back unless it’s faulty and even then it will be to send to Silver Cross for repair not to exchange for something else.

Hiya!

I know this is an old post but you didn’t by any chance buy the Silver Cross Wayfarer did you?

If so, I’ve had the exact same problem! Although the front wheels were completely useless and they repaired it twice but still isn’t great. I’ve now gone direct to Silver Cross who are looking into it for me.

Like yourself, I just want to return the whole thing.
