Compact double buggy with possibility of attaching buggy board

I will soon have a newborn, a 17 month old and a 3.5 year old. I need a compact double as I have a narrow hallway at home, and need a buggy board for the 3.5 year old as I will be walking approx 6 miles a day.

Any suggestions?

We currently have a Phil and Ted's Which is great but won't accommodate a buggy board

Budget not an object, I just need to find something that will work. If it's too expensive new I'll just get it Preloved.

Mountain duets are worth considering, ours fits through my narrow hallway and many of my friends.

The icandy orange has a built in buggy board, but I don’t know how compact it is.

The Joie Aire maybe? It's folds down compact.

I have an out n about nipper double And a buggy board, but it's big even when folded and doesn't into my hallway.

Do you have a garage you can leave it in? My buggies never come indoors.

I too had to ditch the Phil and Ted once I needed a buggy board. Although I wouldn't want to cram any child over two into the bottom seat anyway!

Can you just sling the newborn for a bit, working on the fact that in a few months time the 3.5 year old won’t need it? Or can you get a scooter and a scooter strap (if needed) for the 3 year old?

All good suggestions. My 3 year old loves the bottom seat of the p&t but she is a small little girl, and very shy, so something hidden suits her.

It's just the long distances that we will have to do that worry me. Slinging for a short time would probably work. If there are any other buggy suggestions please let me know

I have a vvvv narrow hallway. I use a mountain buggy duet with buggy board.
It looks wide but its only 63cm - about the save as the phil & teds.

Not at all compact but Uppababy Vista will allow two seats/carrycots plus board. I think the BugabooDonkey also does so but it's definitely not compact.

I imagine that with three children of that age/weight, you're going to need quite a robust piece of kit so you may need to reluctantly give in on the compact part of it. It would also be pretty heavy to push for six miles a day; you'll definitely get your daily exercise allocation!

If the board is only for very occasional use, is it worth exploring whether you could get a board adapted/manufactured to fit your existing buggy, or is that crazy?

Sorry ignore the Bugaboo, narrow hallway isn't going to like that!

Anther solution to get past the need for it to be compact would be a set of hooks to hang up your folded buggy if you have space in a cloakroom or under stairs etc?

I've got a micro scooter for the 3 year old and strap but not sure if it will work for that distance. Maybe I can bring a sling for baby and swap them round if she gets tired.

Yes I'll definitely lose the baby weight quickly! No choice about the distance as no public transport (and I would rather stick pins in my eyes than drive it).

Compact isn't a wish but a need, as otherwise it won't fit through our front door! We have a front garden but live in rough London so anything left there will get stolen.

GT City Select Mini - amazing pram - holds the kids - huge basket underneath and is good if you have tall children. easy to remove and wash. tyres are rubber so will never 'pop' or ware.
it also lies flat enough to put a new born in with a cocoon (which you can attach to the base of the seat).
Great to maneuver - you can even use with one hand whilst the other having that well deserved coffee!

We have your exact age gaps, also walk a lot (no car) and love the Mountain Buggy Duet. It’s so narrow, fits through all doorways and my eldest could stand on the buggy board with her upper body inside the pram handle.

It is going to fill a narrow hallway though, especially as it looks wider than it is. And we needed to buy it new non-air filled wheels because the wheels it came with kept getting punctures so that’s worth planning for. I’d still buy it again in a heartbeat! It’s been amazing.

How wide is your front door? The Uppababy Vista might be a good shout - its narrower than basically all the 'side by side' doubles because its a 'top and bottom' double, and it folds easily if you unclip one of the seats.

We also have an uppababy vista but with the rumble seat and a buggy board it’s a bit of a disaster zone, like steering a precarious train from behind!

Ours is an old uppababy though so it might work better with the newer version with two proper seats. And I have heavy large children.

I hate being a nay-sayer but having borrowed a Joovy Caboose before (the double, not the triple), it was awful to push with the handle position and I would be very surprised if it could do six miles a day with any longevity. It does fit the size / compact brief perfectly though.

Definitely one to try before you buy as pushing it for a weekend drove me insane and I'd hate to have it for six miles daily.
