Phil & Teds Navigator

My friend has very kindly given us her Phil & Teds navigator, it's well used and needs a good clean, but functions perfectly.

However, I need to buy a cocoon for it for when we have a newborn. Having read around I've heard that babies can get very hot in them because they're snug. Is this true? Our baby is due in July so don't want it to overheat.

Is it worth us trying to pick up a cheap second hand pram for the baby months?

Any advice would be great!

The seat lies completely flat so I would have thought you could do without a cocoon in the summer.
Or you could buy the carrycot which would be bigger than the cocoon.
