Let me preface this with: I am only 6 weeks pregnant and it is far too early to be thinking about this! BUT if possible plan to buy second hand so I figure if I can keep an eye out for the right thing on selling sites I might be able to get what I want at a good price. Also I’m off sick and have lost the will to live a bit.

We live in a very small village, very rural, terrible road, walk to the nearest small town is a couple of miles of mixed terrain. We are planning to sell one of our cars as DP won’t need his whilst I’m on maternity leave as he can cycle and it will save us a fortune. However there will be days that he might need the car and our transport will have to be bus from the nearby town. Off-road capability is an absolute must for us. I was hoping we’d be able to buy an off-road buggy that we could use from birth as I don’t want to spend hundreds on a travel system as it seems entirely unsuitable for us. We’re also both keen runners so it would be amazing if our day to day buggy could double up as a running buggy (I know we won’t be able to actually run with baby til 6 months or so) as we really don’t have room for loads of bits of kit.

Is there such thing as an off-road/running buggy that can be used from birth?! They all look like really unsuitable. Any ideas?!

My friend has used the Baby Jogger Summit X3 from 6 weeks with hers and she does park runs as well as woodland walks etc with it regularly and loves it.

The seat lies almost flat but I think you can use it with carrycot/car seat too if you're just wandering around town.

The Baby Jogger fold is amazing!

Out and about nipper 360. Best buggy ever. Fab for off road and you can clip maxi Cosi car seats on; or a carry cot from birth. Or I've seen newborns just in it with cocoon thing as it lies completely flat.

I have the baby jogger summit x3, i used from birth, it goes off road well, has a fab shade and basket and its a dream to jog with, its also great in town, only downside for me is its heavy. The other buggy i would recommend is the thule glide, not cheap and does not have the option to unfix the front wheel, dream to jog with and off roads well and is light as its an actual running buggy. Cant comment on the nipper single but have ran with the double nipper and that was good.
