Which Double buggy for tall 4.5 yr old and 2yr old?

Hi
Can anyone recommend a good lightweightish about town and holiday DOUBLE buggy that my 4.5 yr old can fit in, she's quite light but tall. I'm after a side by side one as my City Select isn't great for them because of leg room for both girls.
Many thanks :-)

Have a look at the mountain buggy duet. Smile

Sherbertfizzer · 16/07/2017 19:03

Thanks. I've had a look and yes they seem really good and sturdy and also big enough for my older child. I'm now hoping to find one on EBay etc. 👍😀👍

Unless there are mobility issues why on earth does a 4yo need a buggy? Won't she be at school in 6 weeks?

Nicae · 16/07/2017 19:17

Helpful last comment!
I've got a joie double, I think it's called an aire, it was £140 new and is great, my two are much smaller than yours though but worth a look I reckon.

I literally only opened this thread to see how long it would take for someone to wade in and post this. Grin It's like MN bingo.

Sorry op. I have no actual helpful information.

BikeRunSki · 16/07/2017 19:22

I had s Nipper 360 single fern DD was 1. DS was 4 (and very tall) and he would sneak in sometimes. Maybe look at the Nipper 360 double?

DontDeserveIt · 16/07/2017 19:22

Babyjogger city mini double we've used it for much older dc and it's great
If your budget allows go for the GT model

Oogie · 16/07/2017 19:24

If you have google babytrend sit n stand, I can highly recommend them, although it is a tandem and not side by side. I actually have one to give away for free, it is well used but would do a holiday. Feel free to message meSmile

Hey thanks.
It's ok, I'm not worried about any troll comments lol, people will judge all and everything no matter what the subject.
Thanks Nicae I will have a look at the Joie ones as well :-)

lora so did I. Mine were in a buggy for ages because we walk a lot.

Better a buggy than a car IMO.

Sherbertfizzer · 16/07/2017 19:30

Thanks Bikerunski, will look at that too, I haven't heard of it.

Dontdeservelt- I've for the GT single and she seems way too long for it, not tried the double but I was imagining was same height?

Wow oogie that's really kind of you, I will have a google. Thank you :-)

The baby jogger city mini double is fab. Seats are nice and big so great for older children. If it is for holidays too then the huge sunshades on it are a real plus.

Hello, I have mountain buggy duet. It's sturdy, easy to push & dismantle/erect, fits through doors well & generally pretty happy with it. Like most doubles it is heavy & takes a lot of boot space. You might wanna double check in shops how your older child fits in - I find straps a bit limiting & due to the plus point of fitting through single door the seats are quite narrow. Overall it's a good double option I think. Happy shopping!

Note3 · 16/07/2017 19:35

Baby jogger city mini side by side double is brilliant. Could push it one handed with both children in it, my 98th centile child had plenty of room, folds in one easy motion and I only ever found one doorway it wouldn't fit through (a very old listed building). The only drawback to them is you need a good size boot if you put it in a car

shakemysilliesout · 16/07/2017 19:35

I don't know about what you need it for but the bugaboo bee plus board with seat was great

shakemysilliesout · 16/07/2017 19:36

I meant that I don't know how far you are traveling, not being sarky like ' I don't know what you need it for'. The buggy board plus seat worked for for like 3 miles city walks

I just popped in to see how many judgey comments you would have too.
I had a city jogger for my dts, I really doubt they would have fit in it at 4-5 years and they were small for their age then.

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 16/07/2017 19:44

My friend has the sit and stand for a baby and preschooler because she has a long walk twice a day on the school run. It seems like a great thing and she doesn't have that uneven feeling of trailing about an uneven double because obviously sometimes the preschooler walks and sometimes he needs a seat. Wish I'd had one when dd was a toddler and ds1 was born.

Iizzyb · 16/07/2017 19:47

I have a tall 4.5 ds and he is still comfortable in Maclaren techno xt so I imagine double version of that would be fine & added bonus is v big drop down sun shield from the canopy/roof bit Sunday evening, words fail me! I used mine loads on holiday for long walks and so that he could snooze in the afternoon to stay awake for deadly kids' hotel entertainment without me being stuck in a hotel room or stranded as a single mum unable to carry said tall 4.5 yr old for long periods of time. I have literally never seen so many double buggies as in Majorca this May! Obv if you go everywhere by car often you can forget buggies when they are much younger but as a pp said for long walks buggy is still useful xx

Sherbertfizzer · 16/07/2017 19:48

Haha shakemysilliesout, it's fine , im not offended.
I was just telling someone else, we walk miles most days and older child starts flagging and I just want to get where I need to go on time, it's far easier once she tires out to just let her sit with her sibling and rest so I can march to where I need to go. I kept kicking my buggy board and older child kept falling off or hitting her face in hand bar.
Plus it's nice to have an extra seat to throw in all my bags or shopping!
There's some great suggestions here so thank you all very much, I will be busy tonight having a look and comparing them all and looking on EBay.
We going Wales -lots and lots of hills!!
Dixienormas - very good point thanks.

Mountain buggy duo is slightly bigger than duet and has a higher weight limit. And it's an older model so even cheaper on eBay.

hazeyjane · 16/07/2017 19:52

Things like Maclaren are ok as a single, but not so great as a double.

We had a Nipper 360 which was great, and then a friend gave us their old Mountain Buggy, which was fab too!
