Suitable from birth, good on all terrain, compact when folded, any ideas?

I am looking for a pushchair suitable for newborns (will buy carrycot if needed), that will fold up and fit in our fiestas boot with room for other things and that is good on all terrain as we like going out walking.

Has anyone got anything they can recommend?

My other half is 6 foot 2 so needs an adjustable handle and we have a maxi cosi car seat we were donated.

Baby jogger city mini gt might do the trick! Depends which dimensions you need to be compact.

A Bumbleride Indie 3 or 4, or a Babyzen Zen might be worth a look at too. I second the Baby Jogger City Mini GT, but also the Elite or the Summit - these latter two have big wheels but they can be detached really easily and are essentially the same chassis size as the smaller City Mini and GT.

Sling for walking, even if you get a pram to cover the terrain it will be a bigger to wash the mud off after. If it's walking on paths the baby jogger city mini or mini gt should suit everything you're looking for.

The bugaboo bee is not an all terrain pram. Mine used to get stuck on cobbles and once tipped - sold kit the next week.

I third the Baby Jogger City Mini GT. I had the same spec requirements when I had DS1 - even the fiesta - it definitely fits in a fiesta boot, great off road, easy to push with one hand, adjustable handlebar good for all heights, so easy to steer. Used with DS1 from birth to 3 and now with DS2. Didn't use a carrycot first time round with a big summer baby, but did buy one second time with a prem winter baby.

We love our Uppababy Vista. Great for tall people like us. Amazing size basket and not only folds small but stands up when folded. We've used it for country walks, over cobbles, gravel etc and it's been sturdy. Can be a bit wobbly for baby but the newborn insert is great for support.

I don't think many people would call the uppababy vista compact when folded! It's a great pram though (and freestanding when folded is ace!)

Baby jogger city mini GT all the way! If you want something genuinely all terrain id have thought you'll need to buy another at 6 months that won't be practical for every day use though. On off road walks you'll be much better off with a decent carrier!

Phil & Teds are very good for all terrain. And you can add a double kit later to make it a double buggy if you go on to have another baby. We have one now for toddler & baby bought second hand. Wish I'd thought ahead and bought one from the start with ds1. Makes it a good investment if used for a couple of children.

We have a city mini gt. It's great. I love it. We used a graco soft insert in it for the first 3 months and then a sheepskin liner so she was always snug! (Pfb)
We use a rucksack carrier for walks though (bush baby premier).
Before that, When she was smaller, we used a stretchy wrap sling and a connecta (all second hand - total sling outlay £90).

If needed the wheels come off. I've had it in the back of a Peugeot with wheels on and the basket, although big, collapses to nothing when folded so it looks like it will be bigger than it is. As it stands on its own it takes up less space in the house than ones that don't so in that respect I count it as compact when collapsed too :) Also with both of us being tall it's a great pushchair as we found all the others tiny when you are tall and some the baby feels so far away. We had a similar criteria to the OP and that's what we needed up with so that's my recommendation :)

Is the bugaboo bee one handed fold? I didn't think it was. I've also seen my friends struggle with it over rough ground though maybe the newer ones are better.

Baby jogger all the way. I bought one in 2013 for my first born - still going strong, best buggy ever!

The bugaboo bee is not a one handed fold and it's an absolute bugger to unfold. It also has small wheels and wobbles on rough terrain. The baby is also quite low to the ground, which isn't ideal for off road. It's brilliant in cities as it will fit through small spaces and alongside cafe tables, steers very well one handed and the handle adjusts easily. For OP's requirements it's completely inappropriate.

We have an old Baby Jogger City Mini which is built like a tank, folds and unfolds easily and is great on rough terrain. I'd recommend it.

If you need something that folds really small, the quinny zapp is tiny when folded and pretty easy to fold and unfold. We had a cheap second hand one with DS and it's perfect for putting into a small car boot with other luggage. It's not that sturdy though and, at least on the old models, the handles weren't adjustable and it doesn't steer well with one hand.

I think the uppababy vista is the superior pram but the baby jogger city mini has the compact fold and meets your other criteria.

I had a Babyzen Yoyo for under two years and I whilst it is compact and handy for toddlers I very much doubt it would last the distance from birth to toddler. I don't think it's substantial enough for a newborn. We also had to get the wheels and the fabrics replaced twice and we didn't even use it daily.

Out n about nipper great on all terrain but not compact..
maclaren techno is surprisingly goodon most tracks,paths etc. And is a bit more compact
