Need buggy for 2 year old- not umbrella fold

DS is just two and still uses the pushchair regularly, I've never really liked the Joie we had due to the fact that the seat sort of tipped him out of it and he was often hanging by the crotch strap iyswim? He grew out of the car seat and I got rid of it, replacing it with a Cybex Topaz stroller.

I've now decided I don't like parts of this either- the wheels are too small, it has two handles so I struggle to push it with one hand, and I don't like the umbrella fold.
DS is my last and almost two, so I don't want to spend too much, but am happy to go second hand.

I think I want-

Large, deep, comfortable seat that reclines flattish
Preferably a nice harness, not a skinny scrappy one (like the joie)
One handle
Easy to push
Smallish all in one fold but not umbrella
Large hood
Not too tiny wheels, unless they can cope with bumpy pavements and a little bit of light off road.
We are emigrating soonish so it would need to be able to go on the plane (checked in)
Easy on/off brake
Not too heavy
I prefer them to be higher up, and would love parent facing option, but am prepared not to have these!

I'm hoping for some expertise here to show me what 4 children and 10 pushchairs has not managed to do yet!

Baby jogger city mini!

I feel like a stuck record on pushchair threads grin

Mamas and Papas Armadillo?

Pootles2010 Fri 12-Aug-16 15:44:54

Yes to BJCM - and yes also feel like stuck record! But its pretty perfect, really.

DeloresDeSyn Fri 12-Aug-16 15:49:42

I have been looking at the city mini and I do really like it- there's a second hand 'zip' for sale near us too. Do the wheels cope ok?

I haven't seen the armadillo, I'll check it out.

TheCaptainsCat Fri 12-Aug-16 15:54:15

Id say mamas and papas armadillo too!

Mrsderekshepard Fri 12-Aug-16 15:55:48

Loved our bjcm and I had loads of prams/buggies

BikeRunSki Fri 12-Aug-16 15:56:51

Came in to say BJCM, absolutely can't beat it.

Clicked on to suggest Baby City Jogger too. Mine is 6 years old and still going strong (not same child before muttering about big children in pushchairs).

I've got an easywalker mosey and am out and about nipper. Both are great and have big seats my large 6 yo can fit in.

The out and about little nipper folds smaller and looks good too.

Another vote for the Armadillo, I love ours

3boys3dogshelp Fri 12-Aug-16 15:59:01

Another vote for BJCM!

Satsumadreams99 Fri 12-Aug-16 16:00:21

Definitely BJCM too - I had the single mini and I have the double GT which has an adjustable handlebar and more robust wheels. Lovely huge hoods and big roomy seats

DeloresDeSyn Fri 12-Aug-16 16:32:36

I had a look at the armadillo, it doesn't look much on the Internet, but that is always a bit deceiving I think.

I really do like the baby joggers and they have a lot of support, I can't find any bad reviews about them!

I do like the nipper, but do the tyres pop? I had a Land Rover pram years ago and the tyres were such a nuisance.

DeloresDeSyn Fri 12-Aug-16 16:33:48

I'm now watching about 400 bjcms on eBay, wish more people would post them.

Has anyone had a zip?

ShelaghTurner Fri 12-Aug-16 16:34:18

I have a zip which is currently housing my 4.5yo due to her broken leg and it's coping just fine. I won't pretend it's as sturdy as the GT which I had and adored, but it's doing just fine and folds up so small!

gillyweed Fri 12-Aug-16 16:36:35

I came to say bjcm gt too!

DeloresDeSyn Fri 12-Aug-16 17:07:27

Thanks shelagh!

BikeRunSki Fri 12-Aug-16 17:16:21

I had a Nipper too. I "slimed" the tyres the day I got it, and never had to think about them again, apart from blowing them up occasionally. But they are much bigger than the BJCM, not really comparable.

DeloresDeSyn Fri 12-Aug-16 17:48:06

What's slimed BikeRun?

Useful to know it's much bigger, thanks.

Is the zip considerably smaller that the mini Shelagh?

Iguessyourestuckwithme Fri 12-Aug-16 17:54:50

Another vote for Baby jogger city mini!

I feel like a stuck record on pushchair threads

BikeRunSki Fri 12-Aug-16 17:57:20

Slime, goo you squirt into tyre inner tubes that prevents punctures. Most local, independent bike shops will do it for you too, for a fee.

Hufflepuffin Fri 12-Aug-16 18:02:10

The zip is a much smaller fold, it's freestanding too which is nice. The regular bjcm feels slightly more suitable to light off-road though, but the zip is a great buggy for all your requirements and there's an IKEA bag that works as a transport bag for the plane.

DeloresDeSyn Fri 12-Aug-16 21:22:05

Thanks Bike!

Thanks Huffle too- I'm watching a couple of zips on ebay, but I do think the mini or even the elite might be better having done a bit of reading now. Does anyone have an elite? There don't seem to be so many second hand ones around mind you.

polkadotdelight Fri 12-Aug-16 21:26:54

Maybe have a look at the graco evo mini if you don't want to spend city jogger money.
