Pounding the pavements-is there a mini tank out there? Toughest stroller wheels?

I need a pushchair with the toughest wheels. Like a lot of us I am still in search of the perfect pushchair. I've worn down the wheels on two maclaren quests in 6months and I've loved my icandy apple but it's too heavy and big for me now.

I need a stroller type pushchair for a 24 month old for the next school year. I do approx 3-4 miles school/nursery/shopping walking a day so although she's a keen walker I need a reliable pushchair- please don't mention how toddlers should be walking, she will be but not at 8am on a November morning when she's tantrumming :-) We don't have a car so I don't care about how it folds but we do use public transport and I want to be able to hop on a bus in the winter.

This will be our sixth pushchair in as many years so dh is reluctant to spend too much!! Ideally under £200.

Anyone used the mountain buggy nano? I loved my duet but I'm thinking the nano wheels might not be sturdy?
I'm also looking at the budget end Hauck comfort shopper as it has the single handle and the big basket looks tempting, again any experience really appreciated!
I could only afford a bugaboo bee second hand so I'm not sure if it would be worth it and again, do you think it can take the pounding in pavement?

Thanks for any tips, I'm not interested in looks, just something that pushes well and doesn't do my back in :-) oh and it's a big and tall toddler!

Would a micralite fit the bill? Haven't tried one myself but the wheels seem sturdy. Or a second hand baby jogger city mini get, which is a bit big for the bus but easy to fold on the go.

Out n About Nipper 360, the U.S. A FB buying and selling page for them. Can get a second hand one for around £100.

If it's only the wheels that are suffering you can often replace them.

Thanks very much! Good point about replacing wheels, I want to make sure it's a sturdy enough frame. I'll look up out n about and try and see if I can find a microlite to try out. Love mumsnet for advice like this!

Huge vote for Baby Jogger City Mini. Ours has been a total workhorse - daily (long) nursery run, travelled the world, gets onto our local buses like a dream and is easy to fold one-handed.

DS is nearly 4 and v tall for his age, we last used it about 6 weeks ago for a very long day out in London. He was perfectly comfortable - a great pushchair for tall kids.

My daughter is 27 months and has plenty of space in out babyjogger city mini. It's really sturdy, loads of space in basket but folds fairly small (and very easily). We tend to walk couple miles a day and take it on forest walks/ to the beach etc regularly and it's holding up very well (had it for a year now and wheels are in good condition).

My daughter oly started walking at 23 months and will be using pushchair for a while yet and she'll fit for as long as we need it.

I would have said the new Jane crosswalk would be perfect but out of your budget as its a new design so not even secondhand yet. Failing that Jane muum? I think Jane in general have a few models that may suit. I have the trider and love it, it's brilliant but is quite a bulky fold if you needed to fold on the bus. The muum is better for that.

Agree with baby jogger. I have the city mini GT which has fab forever air tyres and is a dream to push.

I think the Maclaren wheels are particularly bad for this. I have a second hand bugaboo bee but haven't used it for the distance you have so couldn't guarantee that the wheels are up to it. The person I bought it from said they'd had it 5yrs and it still looked like knew so it must be reasonably robust.

I also love my city mini. I've only had it 18 months, though it's taken some punishment (aeroplanes, beaches, snow in addition to school run and shopping). My 5 year old is still ok in it though the hood nearly touches his head if it's up. They also have great customer service.

Thanks I'll add those to my research, I'm just phoning round shops to see who stocks what so I can have a test drive. - I don't want wasted shopping trips with three kids in the school holidays so it's good to know what I'm looking for!

Phil and teds! I did this but the frames are bomb proof and the tyres/ inner tubes are both study and cheap to replace as they are standard children's bike size. Heavy frame, lovely to push, I regularly moved four children on a very very old one ( two seats, buggy board and pe arched on foot rest). Totally unkillable and many well under 100 second hand

Also silver cross were amazing with my cheap pop, when the wheels wore out they posted new ones. No charge or questions
