Best option for rural twins

Seeking collective wisdom... Due twins in spring, live in rural village. Will need buggy or 2 buggy combo that can cope with the following

  1. Some proper off-roading through woods, on uneven

paths, sand for walking dog. Maybe bit of gentle jogging.
  1. Attach car seats for quick nip to local town shops - narrow door ways.
  2. Manage 3 steps up to our

front door. Ie not too heavy.

  1. What do you thing about needing carrycot option vs letting them sleep in lie flat buggy when newborn.

  1. Will be used from birth.

Mountain buggy double prams are the best double for rural twins. DSIL lives on a farm and uses her double mountain buggy over the fields. Carrycots are wonderful for long naps in the pram. Not very narrow though. Phil and teds are best for narrow prams. Bugaboos donkey is another option to consider as it is side by side but reasonably narrow and use maxi cosi. I wouldn't use car seats in a pram myself though as it's not good for babies to be in them too long. I always lifted my babies from their car seat into their pram.

Realistically given the genuine off road walking I suspect you would be better off with 2. A mb or nipper double for the off road and then a tandem or less bulky double for the town and car parts.

Re carrycot vs lying flat, if the lie flat seat is genuinely flat then much of a muchness i guess. A carrycot with a mattress is probably comfier.

Perhaps a Phil and teds promenade might be good for the car as it offers all the options you want but doesn't have separate carrycots to store, the Icandy apple2pear also has carrycot fabrics rather than a solid one so less bulky.

Purely from a personal point of view I think i would probably go for a side by side again for the car, simply because the one step fold for short errands is a big deal to me. Most tandems need taking apart. The apple2pear doesn't but it's a beast when folded all in one.

Jane twone - frame fold small and narrow for shops. The jane matrix lie flat car seats become the carrycots so in car can use car seat lie flat or normal ( prob normal to fit x2 in car), then can lie flat and clip on frame as carrycot

Out and about nipper for off road. Folds in one piece. Super light to push. Can get newborn insert to add to seat rather than having to buy the extra carrycots for when small.
