What system to choose? Uppababy vista or silver cross wayfarer?

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with the wayfarer? I had fallen in love with it and thought it was perfect as it is fairly compact and the fold etc is easy. I also love the look of it. However I saw one review that said the ride was quite rough even on regular pavement. We'd like to be able to use it daily for trips on regular town terrain (pavement, curbs, cobbles) and have a fairly comfortable ride for baby, and we are worried that the wayfarer may not cope with this having read the review on JL. In addition we would also like to be able to use the pram for occasional days out to parks, gravelly surfaces and the beach and the vista had been recommended to us. I don't like the look as much and it is much wider. Is this a problem in shops etc?
Also, the seat is smaller in the wayfarer, on average do you think it would last until at least 2yrs with an average baby?
What do people who have experience with prams think? I will be a first time mum so have no idea!
Thanks!

Watching this thread with interest - this is exactly the choice we are toying with at the moment for DC1 - not due to arrive until early 2014, so we've got time to seek the wisdom of MNers!

I love my vista! After having 20+ prams/buggies with DD1 and first year with DS, since I got the vista I would never have anything else, DS who is 3 still fits when needed and DD2 is now 11 months - it is amazing, hard wearing, fantastic customer service, pram is huge and lasted ages, seat unit good size and DS still looks comfortable - the extendy sunshade is amazing! Can you tell I love it! I haven't even looked at other prams since!

I went and had a really good look at the Wayfarer this week because I am thinking of buying one. I nearly got one a while ago, but was put off by the reports of a small seat. So I took my children to try. My 3 year old was a good few inches under the front rim of the hood, so I was satisfied that he will be able to ride comfortably in the Wayfarer. My nearly 5 year old was above the rim of the hood - which I fully expected given her age but I wanted to see where her feet were and how she sat. She sat well in the seat. She didn't complain at all - and believe me she would if she wasn't happy. Her feet sat nicely on the well positioned footrest. So all round it will definitely take your two year old :)

I loved the huge basket. Folded its pretty large - surprising really. It reminds me of the Sola in the way the front tucks under.

The main comment the retailer and I had was about the wheels. For the pushchair they really are on the small and plasticky side and TBH I think it lets the Wayfarer down a bit. I dont think I would be buying a Wayfarer for any more than urban use TBH. If you want to go off road, the Vista would be a more sensible choice. Or look at a Baby Jogger Versa or the new Easywalker MINI

Just to add I know locally Wayfarer's are flying out of the shops though - so its really popular. I know there's also something like an 8 week wait for them currently and shops are being limited to how many they can get!

Thanks all! We decided to order the wayfarer as you reassured us about seat height TIggywunkle! I love the vista and if we lived more in the country I think we'd definitely have gone for it but for town living I think the wayfarer will suit! Will review it for others when we begin using it with new baby in a few weeks!

Roobs24, would be massively interested in your or anyone else feedback for the terrain aspect.

I would say it is our favourite, but just a little worried about that aspect of it

Sorry to start this thread up again after so long but was just wondering if Roobs24 or anyone else had any reviews on the wayfarer?

Still so tempted by this but would love to hear some first hand experience!

I bought a Wayfarer. The quality is superb - way beyond anything else I have seen on a pushchair and at the price it is, it is a bargain. However the wheels as I suspected, did let it down. I found the handling quite difficult even on pavements. A lovely pushchair and pram though.
