Baby Jogger City Versa - too good to be true?

I've been looking at pushchairs and the BJC Versa seems to tick all the boxes but just looks too good to be true. Anyone out there had one and disliked it and if so, what was wrong with it?

Umm... bit sticky here, it's not currently on sale and to my knowledge they are all in the process of being recalled. No idea what's going on really, just that mine is goooooone :'-( which is an awful shame because if was fabulous.

There was one for sale near us on ebay last month. I was tempted but at 300£ it was just so much money and having read the last post, I'm glad I didn't buy it!

There was another thread where the Versa came up recently and I actually had to avoid it in order to not go out and buy a Versa the same day (pre-order only though). IT LOOKS AMAZING!

I have actually decided to sell my Bee+ and get one anyway, but am also a bit confused as to when its going to be rolled officially rolled out in the UK.

I have to say I am scratching my head now to think of anything that even comes close for being so good.....

I was going to buy one, but then it was recalled. I was concerned it would not be back in time, so opted for an Uppababy Vista. The Vista was a 2011 display model aand had £100 off, so it was working out slightly less than Versa with all the extras.

I'm jealous of anyone getting a Versa. I might have to get a Versa for next child.

I agree it looks amazing. Stokke scoot has many of the same benefits ie quick fold, reversible, does anyone know how they compare?

Yes, I have had a Versa since they arrived in the UK. Sadly its going back under the recall, BUT I have already put in my request for another one when the new batch arrive. I think the Versa is brilliant...really very good. If I didn't think it was worth it, I would have taken my refund and run....but I am not! I am gutted its going, and can't wait to get one back. Its so cosy for winter!

Hi!

I was thinking of selling first gen bugaboo cam for this. I nave problems with my cam brake button, pushing down on the handlebar to get the front end on the pavement, i have to put all my weight on it I'm only small! The basket is difficult to get stuff in and it's not a great shape. There are no peek windows and collapsing is hideous.

But the versa is 22lb?! Seriously say how much? The cam is huge in my opinion but its only 20lb say what?! I'm gutted this pushchair seems so heavy.

For those that have one, have you tried it on escalators tipped up - I hate lifts!,,

And what about trying to get it from road to pavement with no lowered curb? Again my cam fails hers big time. What about travelling? We have a golf, does it take loads of space.

I saw the comparison photos on the website recommended on here, the size difference isn't what i was hoping :((

Thanks Tiggy, I did think it looked lovely and cosy compared to my Bee+.

On the other hand, Roymum it sounds like you would need something lighter like a Bee if you find the Cam too heavy.

Mmm but when you read the bee plus reviews on here people seem to hate it..I just don't want to be bending my back trying to get the dam thing up the kerbs anymore!

I think people get narked with bits of the bee but essentially it has no competitors. I would say though that with a bigger child parent facing I very much doubt it will be easier to tip than a cam.

I'm not sure a Versa will work for you in terms of kerbs if you're quite small, it is easy to tip and goes down kerbs fine for me but I'm 5'8" so have the handle running in a straight line with the chassis. It's a pivoting handle so with it pivoted down I imagine in might be harder to tip. It's too late to try it out now though as it's gone back with the recall :-( It's a seriously good pushchair though, as Tiggy says. You don't feel the weight when pushing at all, lifting it is awkward really, as is the unfold but it's really worth it for the rest of it, the massive seat, massive basket, easy handling etc.

I don't know what to replace it with.... Having a serious think!

Honestly I wouldn't go on the reviews here. In central London all you see are Maclarens or Bee's and that is because they really are the lightest. Maclaren's smaller models for commuting when you need something no frills, and Bee's for the more all round stroller option. Honestly, if you need a really light all rounder, I would go for the Bee+

I'm also 5.8" and quite strong so a stroller like the Versa wouldn't be too heavy, otherwise I would never give up my Bee. It is a great lightweight stroller.

Ok thanks, I'm looking at the bj city mini now. It's lighter at 16 and half pound. Can I live with the seat though..
I also looked at maclaren techno xt but same seat plus basket issue.

Not keen in bjcm seat mechanism seems slouchy

I think the bee seems the only solution, anyone taken one travelling?

So I looked at techno xt..the hood was unbelievably wobbly so that's out. I can't find anywhere nearby with standard bjcm :( so I don't even know what they're like. I was hoping to get something multi-purpose to fit in boot and for use round the town I walk a lot. The bee is out, totally inaccessible basket when I looked! Thanks all

The versa is currently recalled so no one will have one on the shop floor. The new batch are due.. um december I think?? It's so worth a look though

I am desperate for the versa but when I emailed round a few stockists they were all saying December, some Janurary and one said Feb. I emailed back and asked if these were confirmed dates and two of them got back to me saying no, it was an estimate. Given the situ with buggy release dates I figured I couldn't wait and got a sola on gumtree for a good price. If the versa comes in I will probabaly sell the sola and get the versa. Maybe.....

I so hope I get to have one. My daughter was an early walker and never happy in a buggy so I hope my son is a bit lazier and my purchase can be justified. I don't think DH will see it that way. Anyone know what they retail at? And the GT version? I think I knew but forgotten.

The Sola is one of the worst pushchairs I have ever tried!! Sell the Sola and get a Versa when you can :)
The RRP is £399 for the Versa and £429 for the Versa GT
