Issues with my p&t explorer

I got my p&t in June when I still had just dc1 and it was great then in Sep when dc2 came along the handlebar started to jam and the buttons wouldn't push in to adjust the height. The frame seems to look bent when its put up, one side seems higher than the other and there is a gap down one side with the doubles kit on. Neither me or DH can think of anything we may have done to it to cause the problem and a screw came out of the handlebar the other day! Has anybody got any experience is this/is it a known fault?
Tia

they did issue a recall, but from reading it was for the brake, but always worth a look to see if yours is in the serial numbers that were recalled. if not i would contact your retailer

A screw cane out of my handlebar too! I already had a query raised with kiddicare about a problem with the hood. When the screw came out I emailed again (was waiting for a replacement hood) and they sent a new chassis out to me the next day.

Hi thanks for the responses. Took it back to the retailer today and they think it must have been shut in a car boot as the actual frame is bent! This must have been done by the grandparents gag fuming!!
Anyway thanks to pramsgalore's link above we have been able to register for a new frame as its one of the recalled models so thank you so much for the link.:) :)

On a side note a wondered if anybody could explain how I can put ds2 in the bottom without the cocoon as he's 3.5 months but already too long for it and finding it uncomfortable to be in!!

Thanks again :)

Hurray re a new frame.
Can you not just put DS2 into the newborn space without the cocoon and tuck blankets around him?

its, getting him in there, you would have to remove the top seat to get him in and out, i only ever used the cacoon and so was able to post them in, so to speak. i would put a nice padded liner in too

I didn't ever use a cocoon. DD was over 10lb at birth and didn't really fit. I either posted her in or if she needed wrapping well I'd take off the top sear

Mummy21 can I ask you (I did another thread about this)

Where does the red rubbery bit that the straps plug into sit on your child? Mine is right down between tear thighs rather than sitting on their crotch or tummy. Are my children big arsed or is this normal?

I've noticed a couple of differences between my old chassis and the replacement. Namely the straps have red buttons to press to release them, which my old one didn't. And on the back of the main seat my old one had a metal bracket to hold the slidey toggle thing. The new one hasn't got this, which is excellent as DS twice bashed his face on it on the old one

Makes me wonder if mine was an older version, although I only bought it in September. It was much cheaper than the other colours which I put down to being sickly green but maybe they were flogging off old versions cheap

Thanks purvida! I tried him just on the seat today and he was ok but lijke you the rubbery bit is right down low which does seem very strange indeed. I couldn't find a way of moving it up so I reckon it must be a design flaw as it really is in a silly position!

Hmm yes it does sound like maybe yours was a slightly older model maybe as ours has had the red release buttons but it does have a metal bit on the back where the toggles go! It is the black one with blue inserts BTW! They had the green one in stock for less when we bought ours for less money. The retailer said it was less popular in colour as most people went for black so it could well have been an older model.

Am interested to see if the new frame will be different to the old one. Hoping the screws will not come out of the handle so quickly this time :)
