Q about icandy peach blossom and new pip convertor

Can anyone (Tiggy!) help with this?

Dc2 due in feb, I already have a 2yo who is not a great walker so will need a tandem. After much research, have decided the above is the pram for us BUT my local retailer says the new pip will not be out until June/July now.

I am thinking this might not be a problem because I won't need the second seat until dc2 is 6mo so could I get the blossom with lower carrycot now and then just buy the bigger seat when it is available? Or are there other modifications (to the convertor fixings for eg) that will mean it will end up costing more?

The Peach Blossom consists of the standard Peach Stroller plus the Blossom kit which contains the lower seat and pip convertor bars. You need the convertor bars to put the carrycot and lower car seat on. I think what you suggest s good but I have hear reports of babies growing out of the lower carrycot before 6 months which may then cause you an issue?

So, you would need to replace the Blossom kit ie lower seat and pip convertor bars later. There will apparently be a modification to the basket area upon request - my basket is a slightly different shape, but I know someone with the new pip convertor with the current basket and she says it's fine.

I have absolutely no idea when the new Pip convertor will be out, nor how the new colours that were shown this week will affect the Blossom kit ie old / new colours either.

BTW I have just read on the iCandy FB that the pip convertor will be continued in the current colours for approx 2 years.

Thanks for your advice and that is good news about still being able to get the exising colours for awhile yet.

Hadn't thought about what happens if the baby outgrows the carry cot. Just everything else I've looked at is either too big, too heavy or not great for newborns and a side by side is just not practical. Really not sure what to do now, is it normal to be this confused about a pram Hmm?

Yes lol! Believe me, this year I must have tried around 20 doubles with my children in (I got to 18 and lost count!) this year alone, and I have come to the conclusion that you should not try and find the perfect double. Buy according to your needs, your childrens ages, and if necessary reassess later. Buy wisely and see a double pushchair as a rental. The new Peach Blossom and Pear are two that do seem to take children from a single pushchair, into tandem and back again well without being huge. The B-Dual is also good. My current test pushchair is a Kidz Kargo Duellette and it's surprisingly very good! But it's not suitable from birth :(

Going back to your original issue, I would use the Peach carrycot until absolute bursting point and then you would have to use the lower seat unit. But the lower seat unit will be absolutely fine probably for 10-18 months. It's really an issue once your baby wants to sit upright and not be reclined, or when they grow out of the lower seat unit.

Honestly, honestly stick with plan A, get the Peach Blossom and upgrade later. If I knew the new Blossom kit was on the way (iCandy said early 2012 on their FB I think yesterday), then that's what I would personally do given all my experience this year. I absolutely love the new Peach Blossom. Whilst as with all doubles, there are compromises, it really works well and above all is easy to push even now with approx 28kgs of child in. Other pushchairs were unpushable long ago with the weight in.

Agree with Twinkle that there is not a perfect double pram for all situations. I have just got my second double pram for the birth of DC4 in around 2 weeks time. I needed one that could have a car seat attached and DC3 in a front seat so he could watch after-school activities without being free all the time. I was going to get an icandy pear based on some advice on here etc but when I took DS who is 22 months to the shop yesterday to try him in it, his legs were already dangling below the recess of the footwell of the front seat. He isn't overly tall but the seat isn't very long. So I would make sure you try your existing child in any new pram before you buy it.
