Hello. I'm 25 weeks pg, have been looking around for a travel system and have decided on the apple. However I've got a few queries.

We need to use it almost exclusively in 3 wheeler mode as we live next to the beach so were originally thinking the jogger. However I see that the stroller frame can be converted to a 3 wheeler by buying the single front wheel whereas the jogger frame can only be 3 wheeler.
Also, am I right in thinking that the pip converter to make it a double can only be used on the stroller frame?

The ability to turn it into a double isn't that critical as its unlikely we'll have another baby and if we were lucky enough to we could always get a new system. However off road ability is crucial.
To add to the confusion a friend has just given us a nearly new apple carrycot and I've just realised that the jogger and stroller have different carrycots in that the stabiliser bar is a different length.

So, we have a stroller carrycot.

I guess what I need to know is if anyone has used the stroller frame in 3 wheeler mode, and if so is it as good off road as the jogger itself?

Sorry this is so rambling! Any advice gratefully received.

I have an original Apple from the days 3 years ago when you got both wheel types (stroller and jogger) with the pushchair. The pip needs an extra long wheel axel to balance the weight and that comes with the converter kit so you can't use it in jogger mode.

I am surprised that there are different carrycots as the only difference is the front wheel but I guess, if you say that the bar is a different length then that must be so. But as the Apple is designed to be either jogger or stroller I should think the J wheel on a S chassis would be fine. Others will have actually used it though so will be more use than me! :)

You can only use the pip convertor on the stroller frame. You get an additional set of wheels for use as a Pear. I wouldn't have thought it mattered which chassis you used - it's the wheels which should be important! You wouldn't be able to take a Pear on the beach unless it was hard sand. Mine struggled to cope with slightly soft ie damp grass this summer.
