Cosytoes or footmuff - what is the difference?

I am looking for a 'new' Maclaren footmuff on ebay but am a bit confused by cosytoes - there are a lot on offer and I dont' know what the difference is.

It seems that maybe cosytoes are for smaller babies? or just go on top rather than being a whole envelope - can someone please clarify?
If either is the case then it is not what i want as DS2 is just over 1yr and i am used to and like the envelope style.
I used to have one, but last weekend my buggy was stolen (expletives!!!!), DP in his efficient way immediatly bought a good condition Maclaren XT on eBay, better than ours which was nicked, but need something to keep the little fella cosy...

To be honest I see the two words as interchangeable. A footmuff and cosy toes are the same thing to me ie an envelope way to keep a child warm. An apron or bootcover is something you popper or button on over the top just to cover the feet.
Maclaren make envelope footmuffs / cosy toes which are really large. I know Mothercare stock them, so you could have a look on there at styles etc and then return back to Ebay once you know what you are looking for.
