Anyone got a mothercare spin or uppababy vista?

I'm travel shopping for first which is due in just over 8 weeks. So far my top two are mother care's spin and uppababy vista! Just wondered if anyone bought either of these and if they would recommend . . .

Torn between the two of them but tempted by mother care as a bit cheaper!

uppababy is amazing in everyway! the pull out sunshade is invaluable, the seat unit is HUGE compared to others (my 3.5 year old still fits if needed! she is too big for most others), their customer service is amazing (had a problem with zip on the hood of mine - think OH shut it in boot to be honest!) emailed them and a new hood arrived the next day! their own buggy board 'piggyback' is amazing if needed, only one where never kick it, never falls off etc! it is amazing quality too, all covers come off to go in the wash pretty easy too! the basket is HUGE, never seen anything like it can fit so much in there - is going to be great for Xmas shopping! Great about town/school run and also handles off road/dog walks great!

was the spin not the one that people had problems with? was it the one that collapsed with the baby in it? i might be wrong but someone on here will know!! :) Also mothercare customer service been very difficult in my experience of them :(

highly highly recommend the uppababy though! I think I am on buggy number 14 and i honestly dont think i will ever look at others again - just wish it had been around to buy as our first buggy as it ticks every box :)

yes mothercare spin has many faults and bad reviews and yes it was the one that collapsed with baby in it, mothercare customer service is a joke!!!!

oh and the uppababy has a 2 year guarantee, which i think is longer than the mothercare!

The Spin is awful! A friend's one has splayed back wheels after 12 months of average use. And the wheels look rubbish for anything even slightly bumpy. The Vista is a whole different matter though. I'd have no hesitation in buying a Vista at all. Smile

Just get the uppababy Vista, it'll be better value for money in the long-run and much nicer to push and use.
We love our uppababy Vista. So nice to push very well made and very safe.

I agree with the others. I have heard at least two accounts of collapsing Spins whereas I have heard nothing but good about the Vista. I have a Vista that I will finally get to unpack today or tomorrow and I am sooooo excited because the reports have been so positive.

I had the spin and must say for the money if I had my time again I wouldn't of been so hasty! It's not a great pushchair and u can get better for your money.

fairimum Do you honestly not kick the piggyback board. I really don't like stroller boards after bad experiences. I can't e hunched over because of back issues. I am tempted by what you have said to get a piggyback board though...should I? Also there's a huge price variation from £40 odd to £80 odd but the £40 one isn't in stock. Any ideas?

i got mine from baby birds i think, who were cheapest at the time - on the kicking stakes it depends if you mind making hte handle higher? i hardly kick it when the handle is short, but to have to do shorter steps - but if i lengthen the handle then i don't kick it at all, infact with the higher handle i find i walk more upright, than i normally do!

I have the spin:

I love:

  • Spinning feature
  • Height
  • How the seat changes can to the moses basket really easily without waking the child
  • comes with all the accessories, such as footmuff, raincover.
  • 4 wheels/good suspension

I hate:
  • The basket imo is too small
  • Hard to fold up/get in a car
  • Can't convert from 1 child to 2 children
  • Colour price difference: I bought the green one for £350, but I would have preferred the black one (was £500)

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

I have just seen a spin on the school run, little one was about 7 months and I couldn't believe how splayed out the back wheels were, might be an idea to see it with a toddler in it to see how the wheels cope?

I LOVE my Uppababy Vista - it spins on the spot which gives me confidence to take it ANYWHERE. I've only ventured once to the shops with my 4 week old DD so far (on our own without Daddy) but it wasn't the buggy that I had to worry about - just click in the car seat & go! Sooo easy! The huge basket underneath is a godsend too :)

Buy the Uppababy! I have a 6 month old DD and I LOVE my Uppababy. Honestly, I never write reviews, but I have to tell everyone how fab it it is. It really is worth every penny - from the sunshade, huge basket, gorgeous bassinet, high seat, adjustable push bar. I've just bought the ganoosh (foot muff) for the winter and it's so snug - she loves it.

Say Hi to the Facebook Uppababy readers who have been linked here! There's nothing but good reviews about the Vista on the big buggy addicts thread too (apart from the handle height!) Buggy addicts are hard to please which means the Vista is excellent [wunk] Wink!

I have a one year old DD and absolutely love my vista. Have had no problems with it, love the huge basket, fantastic in pram mode, good on bumpy terrain (a proper off roader it ain't but it can cope with occasionaly off piste excursions), sturdy, comfy and turns on a sixpence. I have seen friends buy buggies at the same cost or higher and they have all bought replacements. Not me, I made the right choice in teh first place and I expect my vista to last my DD until she doesn't need a pushchair anymore. We are currently TTC #2 and, depends on the speed of success, I'll get either the rumble seat (to turn it into a tandem) or the piggyback buggyboard. Get the Vista and buy once and buy well. :)

The vista is great however I am now selling as I cant get the rumble seat that meets uk safety standards, so i can use it for work.
It is on ebay atm if you want to look www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UPPAbaby-VISTA-2010-Red-Pram-Pushchair-Stroller-Maxi-Cosi-Cabriofix-Car-Seat-/150693529218?pt=UK_Baby_BabyTravel_Pushchairs_GL&hash=item231608c682#ht_5689wt_1396
