Babystyle Oyster owners, where do you find used bits??

Been going mad trying to get hold of a different colour pack for my Oyster. Or basically just a used hood that won't cost the earth! They rarely come up used on ebay or gumtree, and naturally are never reduced on any baby equipment websites.

Has anyone got any suggestions of where else I can look? Has anyone ever seen them reduced? I've put wanted ads anywhere I can think of but have had no responses Sad

I'll be listing an apple pack on eBay soon...Just need to wash a slight mark off it first...Not decided on the price but it's been used for about 2 hours of buggy use.

Aw, bless you, suzie, for posting - thanks! The timing of it, though...I finally managed to get hold of a black hood on ebay yesterday for a bit more than I can afford so now I am in the same boat as you, just about to sell my grape colour pack. I wanted to change the colour to something a bit more boyish for my 2 yr old!

I'm looking for a new colour pack for my Oyster in grape, tomato or claret. How much do you want to sell yours for wellies?

Oh, cool Grin I just listed it on ebay this afternoon for £25 here but seeing as it's a fellow MNetter, I'll do it for free postage, if you're interested :)

Hehe wellies, I've just added that to my watch list! Grin I'd actually already bid on one that finishes tomorrow evening but if I don't win that I'll have yours, if no one else has bought it. I'll let you know tomorrow. Smile

My parents have kindly bought me an oyster as i'm pg with my first. Was just wondering - do any of you have the carrycot bit as well and how useful did you find this? Not clear if you can use this like a moses basket or not and feel a bit daft for asking but i know nothing about babies and am panicing a wee bit

Hi Deesus and congrats! I don't have the carrycot as I didn't have the oyster when my babies were erm, babies iykwim! But I am expecting again and if I decide to keep the oyster (very likely as I luuuurve it) I will probably be getting the carrycot for dc3 because I do a lot of walking (assuming ds2 is ok with walking the 4 miles of school run a day next June onwards Hmm otherwise it will be him in the oyster and baby in a sling). The pushchair seat isn't suitable for newborns either because it doesn't recline flat, which you need before three months. If you think you will be walking lots at the start then get the carrycot (lots used on ebay, usually found 'as new' because they are used for such a short time). Alternatively there are car seats that fit (don't know which, sorry) but this would be for shorter periods only as it isn't ideal for little ones. So you're looking at carrycot, car seat, sling, or stay home Grin

Thanks wellies - that's a really helpful answer. Sounds like i will need the carrycot as i'm likely to be walking a fair bit. It's good to hear people saying such good things about this brand too!

PS everyone feels clueless and panicky before baby arrives! It'll be fine, just listen to your own instincts beforre listening to anyone else's nagging advice, and if you're not sure of anything, you can bet your life your question will already have been asked and answered a dozen times before on Mumsnet :)

Glad to help. The carrycot look easy tomove around once off the chassis too so handy to move in to the house if baby falls asleep while you're out

It's like i've suddenly just realised how clueless I am. We were at the baby show at the weekend buying loads of stuff and for some reason got on to 'how many times a day does a new born poo', realised we didn't know that (i do now and still can't feckin believe it!) and in fact don't know much about babies at all.

But your right mumsnet has already helped us with quite a few pg questions that we've had so i'm sure we'll be ok in the end! As people keep telling us babies are tough little things - they have to be to survive new parents! Grin

I didn't have a carrycot either. DD was 3.5 months when I got mine so I used the liner and footmuff together on the seat and that was ok. It wasn't exactly ideal but I couldn't bring myself to spend £100 on a carrycot, and there weren't so many on ebay then.

I'd definitely advise you get one though. If you get one second hand, maybe get a new mattress (a moses basket one should fit fine) as apparently they can have dribble/sick/etc that becomes toxic in old ones. This one should fit.

And I'd advise getting the air tyres too, I've only had them a few weeks but wish I'd bought them sooner! Here.

It wasn't her, we were at her in-law's house. She'll be kicking herself about it if she doesn't win the other one! Grin The grape's my favourite and I've been trying to push her into getting it for months now.

Hello Ladies. I've got a second hand carrycot and car seat to sell. My little one just grew out of them so I need to get rid of it. Please let me know, I'm sure we can agree to the price ;)
p.s. it's in silver - looks like new :)))
