Bugaboo Donkey Duo: Business Class price with an Economy Seat!

After finding little bits and pieces that we do not like with other double buggies, we thought Bugaboo Donkey is the answer if we pay the premium. But real disappointment when you find a design issue! If you put two seats facing forward you cannot have both fully reclined since second one catches the handle and also other seat! Even the first one has difficulty reclining fully if do not distort its center slightly (otherwise catches to side of the handle). It is a real disappointment since one would think that they should have thought all this through at this price range. To be fair, you can lay both of them fully if you face them towards you but you might want them to see and explore rather than looking at you all the time! Back to square one! search starts again...

The Stokke is the same...It's because the seat is in line with the handle to keep the width of the Donkey to a minimum...Isn't an issue for me as DD rarely naps in a pushchair anymore...Plus seat's easy to turn around if she did need a nap.

Our twins fall a sleep so I need Bugaboo to come up with either move the handle to other side solution or swivel seats :)
We are going to check Baby Jogger City Elite Duo to see if that is any good but we have not seen any demo around!

What have you tried and what was wrong with them? My sister and I are about to be on our fourth double for our daughters of nearly 11 months, so I feel your pain! At least we don't have to have a double all the time.

Try Best Buggy for double pushchair information and photos. There are a few side by sides similar to the Elite such as the Easywalker Sky Duo, the TFK Twinner Twist Duo and the Mountain Buggy Duo / Duet. I really like the Elite. It's packed with great features especially storage and comfy seats :)

Thanks all who replied.
aswellasyou; We just try to recline both seats all the way back to fully reclined position. One of the seats comes back ok(ish) and other does not since there is no space for the second seat due to buggy handle and also other seat which was reclined fully already. So you cannot have both seats full tilted back facing forward(i.e. sleep position) together. I know it is best to see the problem. I hope this is somehow explains.
Tiggywunkle: We eliminated Mountain Buggy due to its doggy belly bar (it is not robust and we have seen one in demo and belly bar already wrecked). And it is bulky it folds but it makes no difference :)
Easywalker's seats cannot go full upright (i.e. they are always in reclined postion). Seats are adjusted with zips which will be difficult when you have child lying in, also it can fail in notime with trying to adjust while child is lying. And you need to do one side at a time which will roll the kid slightly! :)
If we can get our hands on Elite to see then that migth be the way to go.

I am not sure the Elites seats are that much more upright. The BJCMD has an upright strap in it to make the seats very upright which benefitted my daughter. However if you are handy with a needle and thread you could do the same for the Elite. I don't really like Zip reclines either. I can't get far enough between the seats to get hold of the end! Have you seen the Baby Elegance Beep Beep Twin? I know barely anything about it but may we worth a look.

I meant which others have you had and what was wrong with them? That might help rule out others that have similar things wrong with them. For example, I've found that I don't like umbrella folds, I need one that is less than 100cm long, is reasonably light, has decent wheels, both seats recline fully and we wanted the babies to face each other in an ideal world. Oh and preferrably non-ugly!Grin We're about to get a Britax B Dual that fits all of these criteria and will be the one!

Bumbleride Indies get rave reviews too but it's another import job.

Me too Tiggy! It looks great. There's a relatively cheap Bumbleride on eBay that's been put into 'Wristwatches' by mistake.

What a funny combination!GrinHmm Is that the seller who put the value as half its actual value on the import thingy?

Yes...Though the Flyer seller did as well...Only Amazon.com put the full price on the label.

so far
Bugaboo Donkey No (seat recline problem)
Mountain Buggy (does not fold much and belly bar does not fit on brand new one)
Easy Walker (zips used for recline and also cannot be upright enough for kids to sit comfortably)
Baby Jogger Maybe (we have not seen one yet)
There are also few other mentioned but I am new to them. Some of them might not be available in UK at least there may not be any demo.
