orbit or BJCM?

Hello
I'm looking for a little bit of advice, having spent what seems like days of my life infront of a laptop researching prams I finally thought I had settled on a BJCM with a carry cot. I want something that is suitable from birth, copes with different terrain (as we live in the country) and is functional.
However, having just read a couple of posts on here about the Orbit and having looked at their US website I'm now thinking this may be the way to go. My DH is currently in the states for a couple of days so I'm hoping he could pick me one up.
Has anyone had experience of the Orbit? It looks fantastic but I cannot find that much information on it, or reviews that I trust, so not sure if I should stick to the BJCM as it has so many positive reviews on here....

i have an orbit coming will let you know when i get it, of course if you do get your dh to get you an orbit you could get extra panniers and sell them to me on ebay pleeeeease!!!!!!!! . i would get an orbit as they are so different and do get good reviews the resale would be really good as well

Hmm...I don't think there is any comparison. One is a lightweight, simple to fold. The other is a proper pushchair as such. which were you looking for? Personally I would get the Orbit. If you don't like it then sell it and buy a BJCM but if your OH is in the US then it's the easiest way to get one.

Be careful about checking import charges. He won't want any nasty surprises at the airport!

Thanks for the responses. Well, DH wasn't exactly thrilled about the prospect of an emergency trip to the baby store and lugging a travel system back through customs! However after yet another day wasted even more research I think i'm now swaying towards a mima kobi anyway. Fed up of looking at prams now!

good choice i have a mima xari and it's lovely, it just glides along and a real head turner, a very well made, sturdy pram,

pramsgalore can I ask what the Mima is like on different terrain? My one concern is that I had wanted a three wheeler as they are supposed to be better on surfaces like grass/gravel etc. I know that without going for a mountain buggy I won't get something that is 'all terrain' (I've bought a baby carrier for that)

it's fine over grass, don't know about gravel, i have mainly pushed it on paths, they are lovely but i would not want to take mine off road, grass is the most off road mine will get it's white!!!! get a cheap second hand mountain buggy off ebay for off roading then it won't matter how dirty it gets. I am sure you would not regret getting a mima, why do you want a kobi and not a xari, they are both lovely but the xari is a smaller frame and footprint.

Thanks for that, my thinking with the Kobi was that it is only £100 more expensive and if baby no 2 comes along any time soon I won't have to reinvest in another new pram, just the additional seat. purely for forward planning reasons I guess. I'm off to my local John Lewis to have a look, hopefully they will have both in stock so I can get a feel for how much easier to handle the xari is. I'm guessing from your username that you weren't that bothered about having to buy more than one pram in the future :)

The Kobi is fab across gravel, grass and rough ground. It's probably the best chassis of the pushchairs I ave tried. I tried dropping my Kobi off several large steps forwards and it didn't flinch. Fantastic pushchair.

Thanks Tiggywunkle, that's good to know as we are out in the sticks. pramsgalore where did you get your white one from? I thought they were exclusive to John Lewis and their website is saying they only come in black, sangria red or silver cosmo - I'd love a white one, they look stunning (although possibly a tad less practical)!

Great idea! I just looked it up and found a website which will ship within Europe for free and is (unsurprisingly) cheaper than John Lewis! Yay white one!

just remember my seat is high up, on the kobi the second seat will be near the floor so may get dirty, but they do just wipe clean.
