Jane Rider Strata vs Bugaboo Cameleon (w/ MaxiCosi)

Hi, first time poster.

Nearly 28 weeks pregnant with first child, and the search for a travel system is hotting up.

We were very keen on the Jane Rider along with the Strata seat and isofix base, but we tried it out last weekend and thought the release button on the isofix base was a bit tricky. As this would be used quite often, it put us off a little.

So we looked at the MaxiCosi Family Fix base, which seems to have a very convenient release button. So we had a little search for a (reversible) pushchair that can use a MaxiCosi car seat, and saw that the Cameleon offers similar practicality to the Rider.

Has anyone got any advice on this Cameleon/MaxiCosi setup? I saw the video on the Bugaboo website and everything looked excellent, but one thing that left me unsure was the use of the car seat adapters. In the video the adapters are placed onto the carseat, then the seat+adapters are placed onto the pushchair frame. Is this the way people use the seat when removing from a car, or can the adapters be placed on the frame first? Otherwise it seems a little fiddly to me, and negates the Jane isofix issue we have ..?

Many thanks for any thoughts, comments ...

Hello,

I can't comment on the Jane system but I have had the Bugaboo Cameleon system for 5 years and through 3 kids and am still very happy with the system. The Isofix base release pull is stiff at first but with regular use it quickly loosens up. We have the Maxi-Cosi car seat.

I have always put the car seat adaptors onto the pram base then put the Maxi-Cosi on top. In reverse I always take off the car seat, then the car seat adaptors and then collapse the frame and put it in the boot. With practise it only takes a minute - it is so little trouble I would have done it to pick up my eldest from pre-school when no. 3 was a newborn. I probably read the instructions (notice you say the video does it different to I do it!) when we got it but this was the system I found easiest to use and have never had a problem.

Feel free to ask any other questions on the Bugaboo. Pram shopping is so hard.

Many thanks for the reply - and thanks for your description of how the car seat adapters work with the Maxi-Cosi. This sounds much more convenient than I had first feared (from the video).

I certainly agree about pram shopping - there's so much to think about. Is it fairly straightforward to "feed" (IYKWIM) the Maxi-Cosi seat into the car seat adapters when moving the seat from the car onto the frame?
