Problems with Maclaren Volo stroller

It may just be me... But I have just bought a second-hand (good condition) Maclaren Volo stroller and for the life of me I can't get the thing open. Girl at the nursery managed it Blush; I have the manual and have followed it to the letter (release clip, open out stroller, push down on brake pedals) but to no avail. Can anyone advise?

Not sure never had a volo but do you not push down in the centre? Unclip, let it fold out a little then use foot and push down on centre piece?

That's how I unfold the quest and Techno, I'm sure they must be the same.

I've got one and I can't say I've ever had any trouble opening it. Are you sure it's not faulty? It's just like any other stroller I've ever had. Just unclip, let it fold out, then push down with foot on the middle bit until it clicks into place.

Yes it's the middle bit of plastic that you have to push your foot onto, not the brake pedal.

Mine does have an annoying habit of coming unclicked though (which I don't realise until I notice the handles are moving forwards) so I think there may be a bit of a design fault with them

I don't understand it. I'm pushing down on the middle bit with all my might (feet, hand, whatever) until the metal struts are actually bending but it's not clicking into place. On the other hand the first owner and the nursery worker managed it, in front of me, so it can't be completely dysfunctional. Grrr. I'll give it another go, perhaps it will have changed its mind.

Just managed it butwowit's incredibly stiff. Think had better leave it opened out for now. I will try with a drop of WD40 in case it helps. Thanks for your replies (nurses sore hand)

Are you opening it right up? Are you sure there's nothing stuck in it (the over the shoulder strap sometimes gets caught up in mine)?

Yes check that nothing is caught. Also sometimes the catch that holds it closed can get caught inside the folded pushchair.

Yes, this time I had a very careful look for that, but I couldn't find anything amiss. Will keep checking though. I've been using a Graco which are amazingly simple to put up and down (one-handed), so perhaps I'm spoilt.

No - I have a Maclaren Volo that I bought new and have used nearly every day for two years, and it is the quickest and easiest pushchair to put up and down, you can practically just throw it open and you only have to push down with your foot to click it into place. It definitely shouldn't be stiff.

Have you checked that the carry strap isn't getting caught as you unfold the buggy. Mine does this sometimes and it's really annoying as I always forget why the buggy won't unfold!
