Help me with my Bee, buggy board, cocoon, new baby questions!

I've got an older model Bee (2009) and am about to have DC2. DS will be 2.4 when DC2 arrives so I'm thinking a combo of sling and buggy board for if baby is getting to heavy will work.

I can't imagine DS staying put on the board without me strapping him on and have visions of him jumping off the board and running off...am I being ridiculous? Did anyone else have these worries?

More questions...
Can the buggy board attach to the Bee when it is in parent-facing mode?
Should I go for the Bugaboo brand board? Bother with the attachable seat?

Oh and will the new cocoons fit on the older model Bees?

If anyone has been in this position and holds the knowledge please help! Pregnant brain is letting me down!

okay,so i did this hoping it would work,DD drove me up the f*ing wall jumping off and fidgiting.
it would have been okay if i drove but i use the buggy everyday for hours on end.
also DD looked like a giant in my older style bee, when i needed her to sit.

so i bought a double, ahh the utter bliss f having them BOTH straped in!!

but i do like a buggy/sling/buggyboard combo, and use it on days when im feeling, umm, energetic Grin

(dont know about the bugaboo boards but the lascal mini fits fine,in RF mode.

watching this as I am in the same situation thoough DD1 will only be 21 months when dc2 is born. am leaning towards a double though as i'm not sure dd will be old enough for a board yet.

Thanks Frigg, good to know the board can work in RF mode. I have a double too but same as you love the idea of being more slimline if I can get away with it.

Have just been reading about wrist link straps too...am now thinking I could attach one of these to the handle, one to DS, just while he is on the board, to ease my nerves a little. Don't want to use the full on harness/rein type.

Anyone else with wise words...roll up roll up! Grin

I had nearly that age gap......get a double! Nipper 360 ace, even just a second hand one, will give you freedom and peace of mind when life is already busy enough with new baby and older adjusting to new family member......use bee and board when you know you will have time energy and patience to deal with older child most easily.....I still use my nipper and dd1 is 37 months and dd2 is 8months.....am about to get a rear facer something off eBay and a buggy board, we do a longish pre school walk and walk a lot on other days for parks, toddlers etc, I also have a bjcm in car for wick trips, don't drive masses at present though, for me a small and necessarily overly expensive selection of child transportation and carrying devices is best,,,,,no one fits all as I do bait of everything....walk in a lot, drive, sometimes bus.......! Hope I've helped.

Thanks mummyistheword, I've got a Nipper 360 double as well as the Bee so already starting my transport collection Grin.

Did you have a cocoon for the Nipper for when your second was teeny? I must see if I can use the Bee cocoon in the Nipper as don't really want to fork out for two cocoons if it's not totally necessary.

I'm in exactly your situation, DD1 2+3 months, DD2 7 weeks. I have an old bee, plus a Lascal buggy board. Most of the time DD1 loves it, there is the odd situation when she wants to get off and go walking and/or running off, so am pondering getting her reins back out for the walk back from nursery.

But basically yes, it works a dream. Apparently the Bugaboo brand board can be a pain to walk with as it sticks out a long way, with the Lascal one my feet go underneath it. It's much, much faster than walking with a toddler, she gets to see/kiss/sing to her baby sister, and it's surprisingly easy to steer once you get the hang of it.

We couldn't fit a double into our house so had to go for this option...

im the same, with dd i just had buggy board but she still got tired standing up, they do a bibi strolli, which is like a bike that comes out the back to one side, a lady at school has one and it looks brilliant and doesnt get in the way like a buggy board, they are £90 new and the newer models have a strap on too to fasten them in. there are some on ebay cheaper but look like slightly older models. yes you can use buggy board with the baby in carrycot facing either way.

i cant decide what to do with this one im thinking with 3 kids i want 2 strapped into a double or i may have a nervous breakdown!!

From experience - the Lascal board is not so simple or easy to fit to the pushchair - and is harder to transport when not in use. You can tie it to the handlebar with the strap provided - creating extra strain on the handlebar/buggy frame if you like though.

The Bugaboo board is very much lighter (and of better quality having inspected both side by side).

You can take the bugaboo board off completely - and pop off the quick release wheel (it's a push-button thing) - and they will both fit into the basket beneath the buggy! They won't take up much room at all (as are completely flat now you've unassembled them) and you can still pile shopping or your change bag in there too.

This is what I like to do. You can also peg it up using the elastic provided if it's not in use - which then clips it up without straining the buggy frame (after all the bee frame is quite lightweight and not designed to have something hung from the handlebar). I like to take mine off when not in use - as otherwise my older child will keep asking for it if she can see it - even if she isn't too tired to walk!

!NEWS FLASH!
Your feet will also go UNDER the Bugaboo Board too (either side of the wheel) - I found if I stopped LOOKING at the board and IMAGINING I'd kick it and just walked normally - I COULD just walk normally!!! Grin Grin Grin LOL

It has as much ground clearance as the Lascal Buggy board - and the difference in design is one central wheel as opposed to two wheels either side.

I found I kicked the Lascal Board more often than the Bugaboo one - as my feet go outwards to the sides a bit when walking - not inwards as if I'm taking fairy steps along an imaginary painted line (if that makes any sense!).

Also - if you get problems with your bugaboo frame - and they see you've been using the Lascal buggy board - your Bugaboo guarantee with now be invalidated!
If you use the Bugaboo Board - your guarantee will still be good. Infact the Bugaboo Board also has a 2y warranty itself.

I'd pay the extra tenner and get the Bugaboo one - for better compatability with your Bugaboo pushchair, for the guarantee - for the retention of guarantee on your Bugaboo pushchair and because it's lighter and easier to use (in my experience).
