I have a p and t explorer, it's fab, posted on here about it previously, can't fault it...... But am missing my nipper double....was easier for eldest to hop on and off, she's big for the rear seat of explorer but I can wedge her in! Prob is.......we are now into our new routine of walking to and from playgroup twice a week, soon to increase to more sessions as she is loving it...but she is soooooo tired from the walking that she falls asleep on sofa in aft noon! Belss her heart, it's quite a far walk and she never whinges but she doesn't often sit in p and t as it's quite difficult to squeeze her in, would I be mental to swap back to a double nipper for the playgroup walk and get a lighter weight single like a bjcm for other times with baby when dd1 would just be walking.......She's a trooper and a good height etc and she walks alot but shes only just three and she looks so wee sumtimes as we trundle along speshly with all the rush hour cars going by, Prob with p and t is Im not putting baby in back and dd1 in front enough, mainly coz rear seat doesn't recline, thought I wouldn't mind but turns out it's bugging me!
Have started looking at nippers online.....someone talk sense to me please! Would have cash left over if sold p and t for nipper, at least half cost of the bjcm if not more, sense or buggy daftness!

why not just get a sling for the baby, and use that when you do the pick up?

I would have said a scooter would be a good idea if you hadn't mentioned bumpy paths. DS1 is uber quick on his, and isn't as tiring as walking.

you are in the same boat as me and I have just decided that I am going to have to bite the bullet and get a double. Have tried the sling and it knackers my back, buggy board is a no go and I don't like to think what long term damage I might do to DD1's knees on our bumpy route. The nipper went back as it broke and we weren't using it much - am going for baby jogger city classic but then like monkeyspunk i have become a big baby jogger fan!

Thank you for advice and info! Just had horrendous day with exhausted dd1, tantrums etc, didn't quite realise how tired she was until she kicked off in shopping mall and again later at home, she said p and t back seat was uncomfy, only in it 5 mins, walked loads and said was tired, she obviously was, she would have slept given a comfy buggy seat but dd2 was already asleep In main seat p and t. Then dd2taken ages settle for bed this eve and v fussy am in and out her room all eve, not usually like that.....feels like ten steps forward and ten back next day sumtimes dealing with toddler rage and weaning baby games! Just need the buggy to be not a hassle, I must need two to cater for diff occasions, there is no one fits all I finally realise, double for preschool run and single for majority rest of time. Will keep posted.

Baby Jogger Classic Twin Red with old style Aluminium wheels

Baby Jogger Classic Twin Black - Newer plastic wheels and suspension

Baby Jogger Classic Twin Black and Silver - Old style aluminium wheels

Sorry your day was so difficult. I have put the link to the 3 double strollers I would choose - these are great quality and the seats are larger than average - so will fit your kids until a minimum of 6 years old!!! (not that you'll probably need it by that age) - they do fold really small using the pull handles in the base of the seat - this is THE fastest fold I know of on a stroller - utterly fab! I have a single BJ Summit XC and my friend has the BJ City Classic Single - they are both lovely to push - so I'm sure the twin versions will be awesome too. I don't know why this brand isn't more popular in the UK - particularly for the twin. The Classic has bigger seats and is easier to push than the city mini due to the air tyres (which come with quality tyres that aren't so prone to punctures as some tyres which are provided on other prams of lower quality than this!).
You can add bumper bars or play trays to these if you want later.
The seats have mesh baskets at the back - as well as the underseat basket.
This is an awesome price - they are usually £450 - but these are older stock I believe (discontinued colourways).

(personally I'd choose the one with the newer wheels and front wheel suspension - as the suspension at front wheels helps when going up and down kerbs - and also these wheels are pushbutton release - so you can release them faster for storage/more compact fold).

Wow monkeys that's super info and thank you so much for the links, am seriously considering the one with newer wheels, same price as new nipper double but look much sturdier, dd2 woken up full cold so that's explains her fusspot behaviour, poor mite, my upstairs stinks of karvol now!

I had a double nipper. While it was light and lovely to push, it was a pig to fold. It was also quickly outgrown. The quality on the baby joggers is superior. It's not just the fabric frame and fittings, it's the little extra design considerations that make it better too. The hoods are larger and offer more protection from rain sun and wind. The harnesses are better made. They are easier to adjust. The shoulder height is easy to adjust. You can add bumper bars or play trays. It won't be outgrown. The handlebar is rubber not foam. It feels nicer and doesn't act like a sponge in the rain and give you raisin fingers! Lol. Personally i cannot abide buggy boards and theyre not so good as an actual comfy seat when your child is unwell, tired or if the weather is bad. Hope your little one is feeling better soon. X

Hi monkeys thank you again for all advice, was very taken with the babyjogger doubles but decided would have been the thing to get last summer when dd2 was born and dd1 was only 2.5..... So have gone for double nipper, new in navy with free basket, fold isn't the quickest agreed but it stays put up in my hall nicely, my bug snug looks gorgeous on it, it fits through the front door and will mainly lbe walking pushchair for preschool runs, am already glad got it, dd1 is still not 100% but will enjoy playgirl tmrw morn and I'm glad to be able to offer her a seat/ nap on the walk home and dd2 looked very comfy when I tried her In it, feels much easier to push than p and t explorer with both in, also one handed push is easier, I wonder if it's the height of the p and t that makes it harder to oust one handed on uneven camber/sloping pavements etc.......and......I've got a babyjogger city mini coming on friday! So excited, two prams in one week....dp will got nuts when he sees nipper I. Hall tonight! Ha ha....or rather think I am, indeed, nuts. Hee hee! Will use the bjcm for all other occasions and keep in car so no more lifting buggies for me....good job, my back is done in as I foolishly carried dd2 in maxi cosi yesterday and it was too heavy, just for nursery pick up before nipper arrived, I drove, nightmare! Anyways mammoth post but thanks again all, .......if we have dc3 .....if and dd2 still in buggy I would go for babyjogger then....or mountain buggy, hmmmmm
