Please help me to decide which double to get....

Hi all. I am in the situation that I will soon need a double. DD will be 14 months when lo is born.
Budget is a bit of a consideration - but not too much as I expect it will be getting a fair bit of use over time.
I think I have really narrowed it down to a Mountain Buggy double, Baby Jogger City Select or maybe the new Bugaboo Donkey.

I would like the newborn to be able to lie flat at first and I would like them to be able to face forwards/back, have individually reclining seats and sun shades etc. I have considered the iCandy but think they look a little cramped although I have not met one in the flesh.

I does need to be very easy to fold as I have a permanent left should issue to contend with.

If it could be used with a maxi-cosi car seat that would be a bonus.

I know I have a huge list of wants - but any advice/experience would be appreciated - seriously need to start looking!

Have you looked at the britax b dual - ive just ordered one after tons of research and deliberation and got a fab deal from boots.com they are half price at th moment.

Both seats are sitable from birth, main seat can face both ways and is compatible with car seat/carrycot.

Folding looked firly easyclip the main seat off and the 2nd seat slides right under

It does seem a little bulky but then arent all doubles lol, i had a play with the i candy and wasnt that impressed you have o take it to bis to fold and the seats are really small.

My Sister had recently got the city select and loves it although the seats again aent massive my nephew is almost 2 and only just fits in it so not sure how much longer he will be comfy.
This one i a breeze to fold as all baby joggers are but you do have to take the seats off.

I have the baby jogger city select and I love it.

I disagree with the seats being too small. There is loads of room. My ds1 is 21 months and towers over the 2nd old's at playgroup and he has loads of room. The hood has two height positions and the footrest extends too so it gives extra room.

My ds2 is very comfy in the carrycot lying flat and at 15weeks still has a fair bit of room which I know is good for a carrycot.

When both in seats, they can both face you if you want and the fold is easy once the seats are off (both facing forwards)

That was meant to say that it does fold with both seats on but they need to both be facing forwards.

Sorry to hijack but nic and clumsy can I ask a question re the Britax?

I've been having a look at it and am certainly very tempted.

Can you put the baby's car seat on the frame at the same time as the seat for the older child?

Thanks Smile

That's so helpful clumsy thank you.

Is the b-ready the american version of the b-dual?

One last question (I think Grin):

If I go for the b-dual (b-ready) do I basically buy the main pushchair, the 2nd tandem seat and the car seat. I don't think I'll get the carrycot as I don't think I'll get enough use out of it.

Do you have to buy any extra adaptors?

Report
clumsymumluckybaby · 30/12/2010 16:12

yes the b-ready is the us version, the same all but in name.
i think you might need adapters for the car seat, although im not sure,we dont drive,so no need for us!
boots is defo the cheapest atm,esp with the extra 10% off the sale price!Grin

Clumsy you're an absolute star, thank you.

Have ordered the main pushchair in red from boots for £180. The 2nd seat was out of stock but have found that on amazon for £70 so all in all a great deal. Grin. Just need to look into car seat now.

I must be mad cos I haven't even see it in the flesh yet!!

Thanks again

Yay mine arrived today Grin

You dont need adapters for the car seat if you have the britax baby safe car sat.

That will be my next purchase me thinks

I tried the britax. I was disappointed but that was probably because I was comparing it against the Vigour I had.

It just seemed really flimsy to me. And again, I have an irrational hatred of those seats by the shopping basket. I like the fact that with mine, both babies can face me. Can't do that with the Britax.

It's a shame because I really like Britax car seats so it would've been great.

i just couldnt stretch the extra £300+ extra for the bjcs,so i had to forgo the two forward facing seats, but then my two year old doesnt really want to look at me anymore Sad
she does however want to sit in the backseat of the p&t but doesnt fit,so the britax should solve that!Grin

Oh please don't say anything negative about the britax Sad Wink

No only main pram has arrived so for that reason have fought the urge to take it out of the box, have had a peek at the colour though its fab Smile

Am with you clumsy abut no need for 2 rear facing seats my DD not bothered about lookin at me either lol
Am hoping though that she will sit in the 2nd seat, thought it would be quite nice then ta she can interact with baby.
