cheapish rear facing buggy?

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 24/12/2010 10:18

right, I am so not a pushchair person, so need a few basic pointers.

dd1 was very happy in her maclaren xlr from birth. we've still got it, so i didn't bother getting anything new for dd2.

dd2 is 8 weeks, and hates the buggy. I think she might be a little better in something rear-facing, but don't really want to spend bugaboo money.

Doesn't need to look good, go off road, or have any bells and whistles. I'd be happy getting something designed from 3mth+ and sling her until then. any suggestions?

how much do you want to spend roughly?

as little as possible Grin

would ÂŁ300 cover it? I really have no idea...

Second hand Loola Up was my first thought on reading the title, though for ÂŁ300 you could probably get a better one. I'd look at the Loola Up and also the Britax Vigour.

The Loola isn't as good as the Loola Up - beware! The Loola doesn't quite lie flat for example whereas the Loola Up does.

(I did use the Up from birth without a carrycot and it was lovely. Also love the reversible snuggly/breathable seat cover!)

Shock wow, they've gone up in price! I bought a brand new one (ex display) for ÂŁ218 2.5 years ago!

One of my friends has a ZeZu, which seems OK.

I really like the purple one but somehow doubt that's reason enough to bring another child into the world Xmas Grin

Wow Jenai, that looks good Grin

ooh, thanks for all the links. I do like both the Loola Up (note taken Wink) and the purple thingie. Will mull it over and probably decide on boxing day.

BTW - DH thinks I am mental, and that rear-facing will not make dd2 any happier in the buggy. I am prepared to wager the money as I am not as comfortable using the sling as he is. Does anyone have any experience of DCs being happier rear-facing ?

There's research which says it helps their speech development..? If you google parent facing speech development maybe that would help?

I'd also go into mothercare and try your DD out in the loola or the loola up if they have one in display.

If you don't mind how it folds, there are lots of rearfacers. Eg: Check out the Mamas and Papas website:
The Sola gets good comments.
Not so the Urbo, because of the chassis, though I love the hood.

ICandy make rear facers.

DS is 18 mths and still rear-facing. I've tried him forward facing once or twice and he just keeps turning round to look at me.
