BabyJogger City Elite single for DS/baby

Has anyone got anything to say about this one? Can't see it on the Reviews page.

DS is 3 in March. DC2 is expected at the end of December. I thought long and hard about a double buggy but they're huge, cumbersome and expensive, and DS will be starting pre-school in March too, so I won't even need to cart two children around all the time. He is reluctant to walk (buggy police back off please: I'm frankly reluctant to make him walk at the moment, as I'm hugely pregnant, have a sore pelvis and back and don't want the added stress of lugging a small cannonball around town) but I'm hoping this will change quite soon. So my idea was to get a good, adaptable single buggy and use it every which way: put the baby in a sling and DS in the buggy in stroller mode; baby in the lie-flat mode and DS on a buggy board, walking or maybe even in a Babypod (sidecar) though that's another kettle of fish.

Given he'll be 3 two months after DC2 is born, does this sound visable? I just feel a double buggy (I keep ON typing bugger when I mean buggy!Grin says something about the way I feel about buggy shopping, probably.) won't be used for long enough to justify the cost, even second-hand. Nobody I know is at a stage where they can lend me theirs. My mum is convinced that he won't walk when I need him to and that I really need a double. Confused

I like the BabyJoggers generally, but the Elite is better for me because I'm a shortarse and the handle adjusts, whereas the City Mini doesn't, and will give me back/shoulder ache. And we like the big wheels for semi-rural paths locally.

Any tips/opinions?

My sil has recently got this for hers dc1 is almost 2 and a newborn.

She is loving it, she was unsure about it as a single at 1st as it does look a bit odd but it grows on you, shes used it a few times as a single.

It is still a huge pram though, very bulky so you would need to have a fair boot to put it in.

One thing to add is that my nephew who is 2, does only just comfortay fit in the seat as theyre not massive.

Plus points...
Great BJ fold {although diff to other bjs}
Fab to push
She doesnt seem to have had any probs so far getting in places.

Hope this helps

Thanks! I just stumbled across a jump seat on an American site. Probably something I'd have to order from the US, but maybe a good alternative to a Babypod.

Have a Mazda 6 with a fairly large boot, but would want to try it out in the boot first just to ensure I could get some shopping in as well!

Nicola - she has got an elite and not very roomy? Am in shock!

I have had about 30 plus prams in DS lifetime (he's 3) and he has loads of room in it. He is 94cm. In fact it is one of the few prams now where he doesn't look uncomfortable!

I loved loved loved my elite - you could also look at the classic, slightly smaller but same size seat. I can send you pics of my elite I had and my classic with my son in to show you!

You can always pop the wheels off if needbe, it's certainly not the most room taking up pushchair I have ever had, but certainly the biggest seat.
