British Gas man told me last week about £900 for my 12 radiators

Get another quote, Acanthus. We had it done as part of a chunk of CH work, and it did not add nearly as much as that.

Unfortunately I can't remember the fugures!blush Maybe £300-£400?

But BG are notoriously expensive.

Cor Acanthus!!! Looks like I won't need a powerflush after all thank God!

Oh I don't need one! He was telling me that to frighten me into buying a magnetic thingy that would catch the little bits of iron on their way round the system, so as to avoid needing the flush.

Also think about £300-£450 (we're in South East too) had it done last year and it does make a difference...

had a quote for this today. £75 a rad plus VAT. We are having a few other bits and bobs done - new thermostats as both hot water and heating are on the same timer as of today in order to get the CH to come on and a few other things - final quote is 2k.

AlexDrake - what difference? Assuming more efficient so heating bills come down?

I had one recently, (because the system was so clogged up that it was boiling over and leaking from the attic) and it has made such a difference; the radiators just never got really hot before. It cost £700 from British Gas (including the magnetic thingy, so in theory you never need it again). It took nearly all day, but didn't make a mess.
I'm sure BGas is not the cheapest, but I just couldn't cope with chasing round for quotes; I still have that old-fashioned idea, that at least you can trust British Gas, if it does go wrong, you know where to find them.

I'm in Surrey BTW
