How fast can you get a survey done?

It has been years since I moved and need to know roughly how long it takes from offering on a property to getting a survey done.

It would be the homebuyers one so the mid-range one. I don't need a structural one because the house is 6 years old.

It also means that if someone offers on mine I know if they are serious or not.

Fingers crossed, I have joined the stressful house selling process

Our surveyor was the mortgage company's one. We signed on the mortgage on the Monday lunchtime and paid our £500 or whatever it was. On Tuesday we received their Terms of Engagement in the post, on Wednesday morning the surveyor called to ask if there was anything in particular we wanted checked as he was outside the house.

Good luck!

All mortgage co's take different amounts of time - Abbey are quite slow at the mo and the survey is the last bit.

C & G were really quick to get someone round to house we are hoping to buy but really really slow at dealing with extra reports they have asked for.

Thanks, we are with C&G and will probably stick with them so it is good to know they are fast off the mark.

racmac when you say "extra reports" what reports are those? Is it like timber/flat roof stuff?

Am on mad cleaning mission so will check back later

We had to get a structural engineers report and a damp & timber report - these went to C & G and they took a week then to ask for CCTV drainage report (as recommended by Structural Eng) and quotes for all works that had been suggested.

We sent that last Thursday night and Im waiting to hear aaarrrrggghhh i want an answer now

But we are buying a house that needs doing up and has had previous underpinning - 20 odd years ago so I know why they want the reports i just want the answers immediately i dont have patience
