Come and talk to me about carpet for the stairs... because I know nothing!

HELP! I want a GOOD QUALITY, durable stairs carpet that isn't too expensive, although I'm prepared to pay for quality. What do I need to look for to ensure it's not going to be ruined within a couple of years? Does it have to be wool backed etc?

Also, I've set my heart on a stripey runner that then continues on the landing, so if anyone can recommend from experience a good place that sells them that would be great.

Thanks in advance!

What you want (as do I) is a Roger Oates runner. However like me you dont want to spend your children's inheritance on it!

At the moment my stairs are painted waiting for me to make my mind up about what I want and how much I want to spend.

Crucial Trading do good runners and less ££ than Roger Oates

Also have a look at Brintons, they have some really good carpets/runners.
