Colour conundrum

Oh wise ones who have way with colours..... DH and I can not agree in regards to the colour scheme of the new television room/ Dad's Den we have just added to the house. Converted half of a massive double length ground floor garage into a decent size room, added another shower room and now its time for decorating. The room has no natural light, has oak flooring and relatively high ceiling. DH is insisting on Breakfast Room Green by F&B, a colour that I do like. However, we are having a sofa made and I am set on a lovely large slouchy chocolate brown one that would look nice with pale blue walls . (Colour of sofa is for us to choose). Some of the furniture in the room is dark oak so all in all, darkish green would make it very dark indeed, no? We are getting some fitted bookshelves built as well that will be painted.
Would like to hear suggestions for interesting colour combinations that could work in the given space.
Many thanks in advance.

Would be dark but if a TV/ Dads den then I think that would be very sophisticated. If it is going to be dark sometimes you are better off embracing it rather than trying to make it look lighter as that can equal dull imvho.

We have F&B paint in sitting & dining rooms - sitting room is Green Ground, dining room is Powder Blue. They are both beautiful, light, fresh colours - people always comment on them. We have dark brown leather sofas as you describe & the colour works well with the green, but would work equally well with the blue.

If there is no natural light I would go for dark green or red. Think wood panelling gentlemans club sort of idea.

Thank you all for your advice, much appreciated! Going with Breakfast Room Green and Mink Brown fabric covered sofa. Gentlemans club indeed :-)
