How much to get your house painted?

DH and I have always done our own painting but we're feeling so pushed for time ATM that we're considering getting it done for us.

Our house is a semi-detached, small two-bedroomed modern build. We have 6 rooms in total, including the hall. We have six windows, two of which are small and a small portico over the front door.

We want it painted white, inside and out.

What might be a reasonable price to have this painted. We're in Wales, if that makes a difference.

Someone scared us by saying it would be around £2000. Does this sound wrong to you?

It would cost a lot more than £2000 where I live....

Yes it does sound wrong, it sounds too cheap unfortunately. We're in Bristol and a hall alone can cost £600 here

No 2K sounds about right to me. Your house sounds a bit smaller than ours and we had most of it done last year for about 2K. (included the paint though - and all white paint would be fairly cheap)

However, if it needs doing, I have to say getting it done properly is a huge relief - we had always done it ourselves before, but couldn't face all the woodwork and ceilings and whatnot. They do it far better and faster than you would and to me it was money well spent.

Where do you live? DH will do it for £999

One thing you could do is look for a handyman who might do it for cheaper as he'd be working alone - it costs more if you use a company as obviously they are paying people and making a profit too. But get one who comes with recommendations.

We live in Aberystywth. The chances that you do are very slim, Disenchanted3....

Wow. £2000 plus. That's a lot. It's also a lot of weekends for us though.
