I'd get it rented out sooner rather than later. Have had a rental agent on the phone to me just now with a whole stack of houses to rent, and all rentals are very negotiable price-wise (according to him!). There's a real glut of rental properties on the market at the moment.

Ah - I am lucky that there is a real demand for rental houses in my village and very few (none) available. Local agent said that they can rent out houses here within 1 or 2 days max.

I get the impression that people aren't moving to buy or sell at the moment, with one of the main reasons being redundancy (actual and the threat of). Think most people are sitting tight unless they really really have to move. Even the rental agent was trying to interest me in a rental property that I'd looked at some time ago, but been pipped to the post on. The applicant was made redundant and couldn't rent it after all, so its back on the market.

I've even seen rental properties in catchment areas of really good schools still on after a month or so. They are the sort of areas where the properties didn't even get advertised before (rental or sale) - because they were snapped up within hours!

sorry - meant 'buy or rent' - not 'buy or sell'
