Well DP reallyAm having a big clear out and have found three of these shelves that the previous tenants left, in white, would go perfect in alcovey bit in dining roomBUTthey are about 1cm too widehence why we found them and they were never put up, I guessSuggested that DP kind of saw a bit off the end and hope the wall hides the crappy bitIs this a really bad idea?Seems like the shelves would look a bit stupid just on an open wall - or would that be better....?
They are 'floating' shelves - thus they are meant to appear to 'float' on the wall. I wouldn't try to saw a bit off - it will ruin them.
bad idea.they are floating shelves.if they are going spare i can find a home for them
i don't think they are solid either so may disintegrate during sawing process
They are mdf style stuff inside, so not ideal also unless you have the correct saw with teeth that only cut one way you can damage the veneery stuff. Also dur to the fact they are only held on the wall by a bit of metal that slots in to the shelf they do not hold very much weight.
Ahhh - DP's new plan is to take the veneer off the side and see if that will be enough to squeeze them in....
