Still can't afford it but what an enormous drop!

Anyone else spotted any big drops?

That's massive.

Two houses around here that have been on the market have both been pulled this week.

OMG how on earth much does it cost if it has been reduced by 200K?

What was the house priced at originally?? Very curious as I am currently contemplating putting in an offer on a house I saw at the weekend.

one near us (that was built just after we moved in 7 years ago and which I have always wanted a nose round) went on the market last summer - when I looked online it was £750k. I nearly fell over (and I was sitting down) - it is a nice 4 bed with a nice garden and a top-end kitchen. But it is still only a 4 bed.
It is now on at £595k and still not moving.
£750k, what a farking laugh. They probably would have got £550k last summer - don't think they will now.

This is the house. Nearly in our price range now (just need another 50k drop !! )but don't know how much work it will need.

The other one (next door) fell through since we got the quotes back and it would have cost £250k to do it up

Have you been to view it? If you are in rented and they are desperate to sell you might be able to do a good deal.

Worth a shot imo.

That is a massive drop!

Houses still selling on our estate at the moment, without big drops. But some new houses a mile down the road have just dropped prices by nearly 100k - they were massively overpriced in first place thogh; still are.

Has Minster gone into special measures or something?

Its a fantastic location. Stunning views and a conservation area in a lovely village. Catchment for best performing secondary in the county.

Its reduced because the seller (elderly female) has split the plot (although its still very large) and built a house. The manor house is now empty.

I think she's just being realistic. Its not that big a drop I guess when you look at it as a percentage of the original price.

Will keep an eye on it and keep you posted.

Is there a danger that the land she's sold off is going to be a building site and then a small new build estate?

Sooo many ppl want to live in Minster catchment & there's v little that comes on to the market, that any developer building family sized houses would make a killing.

No she built one house on it years ago before they put a restriction on the river front so that nothing can be built.

Am definitely goign to keep my eye on it. Although I dread to think what the energy bills would be like on a place like that. Its out of our league really but nice to daydream

IMO the house in the website the opening thread wants might be in need of lots of work because of 2 reasons

[1] no pics on the webiste

[2] massive drop on price

Why don;t you go in and have a look?
