Moving in a week and need to sort out telephone at new property. Do BT charge?

I currently have a BT phone point (as opposed to cable) I pay for telephone through Talk Talk and Broadband through Virgin.

I will probably opt to go through Virgin for telephone and broadband in the next property. There is apparently a BT phone point there. Do I need to let BT know I am moving from this property and do I have to pay them to do anything at the next property????

I am thoroughly confused. This is the first time I have moved since having services through different telecommunication companies.

you do need to tell them you are moving as you always rent line off bt regardless of who you use and will nedd to cancel your name from old property

also you dont have to pay anything providing bt line is all up and running not been cut off they will give you a date to switch your line on and you will test if nothing could be swiched off if at cable box will cost you nothing if wire has been cut will cost to put you back on

Sorry - I didn't mean I am opposed to cable - I mean the little thing inside the house that you plug the phone into is a BT one - not a cable one.

You can get Virgin through cable or non-cable. Am I right, then, to assume it would be easier to go through cable if there is that option?

I wonder if there is a cable one there too. The area I am moving to is covered by cable. Would that automatically mean the house would have one of those little boxes in the house?

It is a rental property and I rang the letting agents to try and find out more details but only og tan answer of "I think...."

Well I think he needs to be more specific. I will ring him again and get him to check the paperwork or phone the landlords.
