Where to buy living room furniture

I know this is an odd post, but I'm struggling with finding somewhere that I can buy new furniture. Tv unit, sideboard etc.

I've tried the minimal offerings on the high Street such as furniture Village. I don't see anything in ikea that I like. I am wary of online options like wayfair having heard many bad things about them.

Where have you all bought your furniture from please? I'd love items from the same range ideally, as I'm open plan.

You could go vintage (better for the environment, better built, and no flatpack), try local auction houses, BHF warehouses, charity shops. You might be able to find local businesses that upcycle furniture as well. Or look on etsy or vinterior or ebay but check your dimensions.

I’ve had nice things from Roseland Furniture and if you buy one item they give you 20% off your next purchase. It’s solid wood and not flat packed but I found the price very reasonable

Also, buying off Facebook and other pre loved sites.

I use Etsy for handmade furniture. There are some fab carpenters on there. Some do bespoke listings for great prices. I had a coffee table, tv cabinet and book case made.

Second the Cotswold Company. Really good quality stuff IMO. Or Oak Furniture Land.

What sort of style are you after?

I got a brilliant TV stand off gumtree (having failed to find anything I like in the shops and online).
IKEA do simple and basic and a cheap enough that they can be used as placeholders until you happen across the right thing.

My furniture ranges from IKEA, to John Lewis, to having someone make fitted shelves and cupboards which was surprisingly cheap, not far off the cost to have bough John Lewis stuff that only sort of fitted.

A lot of the furniture is industrial style, especially in next - but I have wooden flooring and the colours of wood/furniture clashes too much. Rules out oak furniture land etc too, because of the colours. I do like it though.

To be honest, I would like to treat myself to new furniture. All my current stuff is 12 years old, all ikea and going strong with just a few dinks. It worked perfectly in our old place, but our new place is bigger (flat to a house), so it doesn't fit anymore IYSWIM. I've spoken to a homeless shelter who are really happy to take it, plus some other bits I no longer need.

Didn't know that about JL, and I love etsy so I'll have a look. TBH I don't know what style I like, just hoped I'd see something and be inspired

We have got furniture from Tradefurniturecompany.co.uk - is goid quality and sturdy. Is delivered assembled, and have some nice wood. The mango wood went well with our old bamboo flooring. Depends on what look you are going for.

I have just bought from chiltern oak.

Reasonably priced, good quality and very quick delivery.

I was impressed.

DD bought from oak furniture land, the stuff is good quality and varied.

The wait time is however horrendous, ordered when she started her house purchase in March, delivery now imminent.

Not sure whether that’s Brexit (coming in on a container so probably not) or Covid (possibly, comes from China) or Driver shortages (that as well)

Anyway, it’s lovely just been a lifetime getting here.

Add t9 this I ordered from Cotswold company and and their delivery was very acceptable, nice quality and great drivers. You just have to get rid of a tonne of packing.

I wouldn't buy upholstered furniture second hand but for wooden things, you can find lovely items at the fraction of the price.

We're slowly replacing our 'temporary' 10 years or so old Ikea as well. I don't like modern furniture, love the 'life' in second hand ones though.

We’ve just moved house and are also struggling to find good quality stuff. We’ve just had a tv stand from Cotswold and co, which is lovely. However, before buying bigger items, we’d rather see them in a showroom and their stores are quite far.

Barker & Stonehouse if there's one near you do nice ranges. Or look up large high end independent stores. If you have £££ shops that sell calligaris etc.

I like Oak Furnitureland. We have had a very positive experience with them, and their after sales service was excellent as well.

Quite a few names of places I've not heard of, so I'll check all those out.
Sadly I don't have the £££ to spend. I had a look in the nearby Dansk, made my eyes water for some of their pieces
