It sold for 550 in 2011, was the 460 price full market value? Is there any way they actually did something more substantial? I've seen a house flipped in less than six months near me: increase in price of over a 100 grand but they did actually rewire, instal underfloor heating and insulation, and generally do a speedy upgrade so it was turnkey, though if you just looked at the pictures it looked like a paint job.

It looks much nicer in the first set of pictures! The second ones make it look dark and gloomy.

It was sold at auction after being on the market a while. Certainly they don't appear to have done anything substantial and there was no mention in the previous details of restrictive covenants or any of the other things that can really downvalue a property that could have been resolved quite quickly.

Grade 1 listed so they wouldn't likely have had time to get permissions and undertake anything substantial

Misdescribed as a 3 bedroom house, when it still has 7 bedrooms.

It’s gorgeous. I’d totally fall for it Blush Love the new colour scheme.

I remember that being linked to on here before. Wasn't someone thinking of buying it?

Interesting
There will be something

Could there have been a local environment problem that made the house a low price and now it can get the fuller price?

the house is far too dark for my taste.

It gets stranger it's listed on airbnb but the owners are a british couple living in California!

I'm sure that I've seen this house on a property programme like Escape To The Country or similar.

I remember seeing it last year as we were house hunting not too far from there and had watched prices shoot up over the space of a few weeks last summer.

460k was very cheap , current price much more what you’d expect I think? Be interesting to see if it goes.

Something funny has happened in 2020 - it sold for less than in 2011 & 2006 (maybe to family or something) - which might explain the issue

It's been doing the rounds on instagram too. Clever marketing?

I'd hate to live in such a dark house. I think the new colour scheme is more fashionable and cool than it was before but it does underline the darkness.

I'm sure I recognise it too - was it not on an area that was really prone to flooding or something? Absolutely gorgeous house though.

My neighbour's house shows that theirs was sold in 2012 for £120k. Which was probably baffling for anyone who saw it listed 2 years later £270k. Actually the couple sadly split up in 2012 and she bought him out.

I thought sold prices would give the total value though.

OMG I bloody love that house! I would have to get rid of all of my jeans and DM boots and buy floaty A-line dresses and bonnets and waft about being all Jane Austeny........

Also would require a substantial win on the lottery Grin

I saw that house on a property programme last year! Escape to the Country or similar. The couple looking around were overwhelmed by it - it really is huge, and you'd be taking on the role of a conservationist.

there are loads on the market, where someone has brought cheap and listed for more than double. just yesterday someone listed a house they purchased in nov 2020 for £152k and has done the bare minimum and has it on for £385k :O

The location is not great. Right on the junction of an A road and another road with a modern housing estate right behind it. I am not sure if it even has any parking.

It’s that red dining room! I think it was a Sarah Beanie one, I remember a lovely portrait of the owners with the house in the background . Not sure if it is the same house though.
