Does anyone have one of these that they can recommend?

Thanks

We have installed Ring this week. I like it and it works well. I’ve also installed cameras at the back to cover the drive but it’s a bit too sensitive and I can’t find the happy medium. It notifies me of passing traffic. I must say Ring has the best customer service I’ve ever encountered though.

I have had Ring for a couple of months now and I like it. It works well for what we need it for

Thank you,

I've been looking at ring and also other ones of this doorbell.

I would like a camera at the back but a neighbours cat comes into the garden and would likely set it off all the time.

We have a couple of cats that sit and walk over our driveway and they don't set it off. I am surprised at how many times it has been useful 😊

A nest camera (and plenty of others) can be set to identify people rather than movement.

It still records 24/7 so you wouldn’t ever miss anything, but only notifies if a person appears

We bought a Ring during the Prime event.
I was fully aware, but they don't make a big thing on the purchase page, if (after the trial period) you wish to continue having them make your videos available for 7 days after the event, it will cost you £25 per year.
Well worth the money though. The battery fit is a little snug, if you have fitted it to a brick wall, it is possible to 'wring' the case if you tighten it up too much and that makes inserting the battery difficult.

You can set it so it only alerts you to people, I did mine as it was annoying as it picked up passing cars

I know you've already bought one but for anyone else coming across this thread, I got a eufy as I was so pleased with the robot vacuum. I like that it doesn't have any monthly fees and can be used either on battery or hard wired in. Though as soon as we got it we were both WFH and haven't been able to take advantage of it yet Grin

I was looking at the eufy @PlanBea My DH has recently started a new job working shifts so is not around much & I'm wfh and wanted something for the front of the house.
How does it work re notifications etc? Thanks

@PracticalTacticalBrilliance we have ours hard wired in, so when someone presses the bell it rings the chime in the house (from the old doorbell) and pops up an alert on your phone.

The motion detection is optional, and you can set to all motion or human only, set the sensitivity of it, and set a boundary (eg if you can see a public footpath that you don't want notifications for). Again it just pops up on your phone.

All the recordings are stored in a data box separately from the doorbell, and are kept till the memory is full (ours hasn't got full yet), so you can download them or screenshot them if needed

@PlanBea thank you so much, that's really useful to know!
