Pan drawers - number of handles?

So, we are having a new island that will have 2 sets of pan drawers, one is 600 wide and will have one cup handle per drawer but I’m dithering over the second set of drawers.

They are 800 wide and I’d like one handle per drawer, reasoning being that it will match to 600 drawers and also if I go for 2 handles then the reality is that only one will be used (we have never had a kitchen where you need more than one handle to open a cupboard) and then the drawers will be opened ‘wonky’ IYSWIM

Is one cup handle sufficient for an 800 wide pan drawer?

Our kitchen is full of drawers which are 800-900mm wide and they all have a knob each. It’s never been a problem at all from a practical point of view. It’d be worth thinking about the design, though. A small handle might look a little lost on a big drawer front.

Yes absolutely, we have wider drawers with only one handle. If they are on decent modern runners they need very little pulling to open and close.

Thanks both, my mind is at rest, one handle per drawer it will be.

The handles won’t match the rest of the kitchen (deliberate design choice) so I’ll try to get some nice wide cup handles for the island.

The rest of the kitchen was finished today, we have replaced the worktops and tiles and OMG it looks amazing and wasn’t a messy job at all, just drumming my fingers now until the units are delivered for the retro fitted island to be installed. It’s replacing a kitchen table, shock horror 😂

And just to tease us, the island stools arrived today!

Yes, we only have one handle on ours.

Hate cup handles. Too small for an 800 wide drawer.
