What's it like to live in Farsley, Leeds?

We're thinking of moving there as it's within our budget. Me, DH, DD(2 years old) and Ddog. We like what we see, so far.

Nice but in Leeds you are always a fine line Between a good area and a dump and if you don’t know the area well the estate agent may try to catch you out. Can you post a link so we can check it out?

@Dogdaysarehere there is a lot of really poor areas encircling it. You are also near Bradford which isn't great. However, budget I guess dictates and some areas fairly near are very expensive

i'm not a fan of farsley, it is quite industrial feeling, and there's lots of busy roads. it just feels a little run down. you're quite near Pudsey though, which is nice, and being nearish to Bradford means you'll get a bit more for your money. you're also near the ring road which is handy but it gets pretty busy at peak times. where else have you considered?

Can we stop the Bradford bashing, I live in a rural part of Bradford and it is lovely. Don't rule out BD postcodes

Also looking at Kirkstall. I know a few people who live in the Farsley 'village' who rate it. We really need inside knowledge of these areas because as non-residents we are not so clued up about which parts are pleasant and which are a bit dodgy.

I live v near Farsley.

It's ok, has become massively gentrified in the last few years and house prices reflect this. There's not much to it tbh but it has a few nice bars, a fab Indian and a great chippy. Agree with pp in that I too prefer Pudsey.

Don't get the Bradford bashing. Like anywhere it's has its good parts and not so good.

Nowhere in Leeds is a perfect enclave of "naice" unless you venture much further out. Even the perceived best areas (Chapel Allerton, Roundhay etc) sit next to and between "rough" areas (Chapeltown, Seacroft/Gipton).

Calverley is nice? Pricey as well though.

It’s okay. Town street is good for a couple of bars/restaurants and other amenities. My partner grew up there and was happy, but we wouldn’t move as I don’t feel that the high schools that are close by are good. We only live 2 minutes down the road but that actually puts us in the catchement for a high school which I prefer.
All in all though it is nice. Are you moving from another area of Leeds?

It’s a bit grim in my opinion, but appreciate that’s just my opinion. If budget allows, there are far better areas in terms of connectivity, things to do, naiceness etc. However, there are far, far worse areas in Leeds too. It really does come down to budget.

Absolutely! And not forgetting the Craven villages in the dales have Bradford postcodes including skipton, settle, grassington, Bolton abbey etc.

It is a good location, easy to get in to Leeds or tonjumo on the motorways for longer commutes.

I think Farsley is nice, and prefer it to Pudsey personally (Pudsey is a lot bigger though, so it does depend where in Pudsey). I don't live there, but know people who do, and it seems like it's got a decent community feeling to it. Kirkstall doesn't really have a centre in the same way. But it does have a couple of great pubs! Depending on where and how you get to work, being Kirkstall side of the river could save you a lot of time on the commute.
