Joining please.

We are planning to move in with family, so no chain, Our buyers, also no chain, have had their mortgage approved. So now I guess searches and other legals.

Thanks to those who have gone before, in helping to manage my expectations of the whole process.

We're completing on Friday so this will be my last thread. We transferred the money to our solicitor today so we are raring to go. DP wants the house NOW Smile.

We've been together 8 years and this is finally our dream of our lovely little house together, no mortgage, all ours. It feels like some good has come out of this strange and sad year.

Good luck to everyone on this journey. I'll post again when we get the keys!

Joining! On my third set of buyers and second house I’m buying! Waiting for our mortgage offer. Buyers have gone quiet which worries me!

Report
InescapableDeath · 27/10/2020 16:37

We've had an offer accepted, mortgage appt next week, surveyor booked for week after (earliest possible). Only worry is flakiness of top chain (our vendor is buying from someone who has changed his mind on her before), and our buyer seems tremendously flexible which is lovely, but they haven't booked a survey yet. How do I know they've done anything yet apart from say they want to buy the house?!

Third set of buyers? That sounds dreadful.

We are 6 weeks into chain complete. Its a small chain of just our purchaser and our onward purchase as its an ex rental so empty. We she hoping we may exchange in 2-3 weeks as everything seems to be done other than enquiries going back and forth. Need to get removals round for quotes but don't want to do them too early.

Just had the survey done on our house for our buyer. I absolutely hate this stage where you don't know what they're going to say in their report. He was taking lots of photos and it's made me so nervous about what may come up.

@whyamidoingthistomyself first set fell through due to Brexit then second set lost their jobs in lockdown. So set 3. It has been an awful journey so far.

@Pepperwand if it makes you feel better the survey we got for the house we are buying had photos for every section, and nothing was wrong in the survey at all.

I’m checking in! Really hoping this is my last thread. Made some calls today and everyone seems to be on the same page and working for exchange and completion ASAP.

Checking in! Grateful we ended up filling up the previous thread as it makes me feel less bad for still being on here. Maybe this will be my last?
Getting really pushed to be ready now by top of chain, but it's our buyers that we are waiting on, FGS these are our fourth buyers SURELY they have to buy it? We can't be that unlucky can we?
Also feeling the survey fear as I know that things need doing here and hope our FTBs don't get spooked by the report.

Checking in to new thread Smile. This won’t be my last (I wish!) as we are very early on in the process. Sold yesterday & we are buying a new build so top of chain (5 in total). Thankfully we are mortgage free so don’t have that stress. Our current house is 3 years old so I’m hoping a survey / valuation will be straightforward for our buyers.
My concern tonight is that our house is still showing for sale on RM. Estate Agent says they are waiting on our buyers solicitors full details. They have the company name but not the person it’s assigned to. Trying not to stress & failing badly.

Good luck to all on here!

Checking in Smile

Our searches are due in this week. Our extremely slooooow mortgage company appear to still not have booked the survey Angry

Our buyers have been quiet for a while which gives me the fear.

While you are all a lovely lot, I can't believe I'm still here. Who knows, maybe this thread will be my last one ;-)

Checking in.

We're just sorting completion day. How on earth do you agree?! Removal companies are so busy too!

@Simonsaysitschristmas thank you, that does reassure me a bit. Like a PP I know there's a couple of things that will come up, hopefully nothing major but you don't know how your buyers will react to the report. Still got what feels like an age to wait for ours to be done on the house we're buying....24th November was the soonest they could book in.

Joining after following the last thread. We are at week 8. Our house sold within 24 hours to FTB, and we had an offer accepted on a house a few days later, they arent in a chain. Our mortgage offer came through at the end of September. Still waiting for a FTB to have their offer. We were hoping to have moved by the end of November but it's probably now going to be after xmas.

Checking in!

Here’s hoping by the end of this thread we’ve completed on the sale of our house (already exchanged so should be ok) and exchanged on our new house, assuming the timescales the broker and solicitor have given us are somewhat accurate 🤞🏻

We are just waiting to exchange so hopefully final thread..!

I have packed so much as I am too impatient to wait.

Did something slightly insane in my impatient ness and ordered some wardrobes a few weeks ago as they were a great offer and said Would take a long time to arrive. Well the weeks have past and I am fearful they may arrive at the new house before it is mine Blush

Another one joining please! We sold our house today and had an offer accepted on our new (to us) house last week. Very excited although I know we have a long way to go. We’ve sent all our details off today and our Mortgage in Principal was turned around in a day so I’m hopeful that we can progress fairly quickly. Although I know I may just be very deluded Halloween Grin

We also need to change the kid’s schools so I’m really hoping that the school we want can offer them a place once we move 🤞🏻Another thing to add to the to do list!

Pepperwand · 27/10/2020 19:54

@Bumpandus congratulations! I dream of the day we can exchange...it feels like it's never going to happen at the moment.

Tomatoandbasil · 27/10/2020 20:30

We are hoping our mortgage offer comes through quickly. We had a survey of our own done already and it downvalued the house a little. I don’t think the seller will reduce so nervously awaiting the mortgage valuation!

Hi new thread! I have my mortgage application appt in the morning so just preparing documents for it now.

Quick question - when a mortgage survey is arranged, how is it done? Does the mortgage company contact the seller directly to arrange a date and time? Still haven't heard of any survey being arranged on my house for my buyers mortgage but unsure how it works... saw someone taking photos on an iPad of my house earlier so hopefully that means movement! 😂

Report
Simonsaysitschristmas · 27/10/2020 20:47

@lollypop345 if they are coming inside they will ring you to arrange a date and time. If it’s desktop or kerb-side I don’t think they will tell you when it is happening.

Report
Lilothblos · 27/10/2020 20:48

@lollypop345 both our mortgage provider on the place we’re buying and our buyer’s provider just did desktop surveys. Not sure exactly what it involves but it was all virtual, neither saw the house in person, so no dates or times to arrange. I think it depends on the provider though!
