Cost of new upvc door....

Just had a quote for providing and fitting a upvc door, frame and side window panel.

£1800!

Is that about right? I was thinking it would be circa £1k...

The current door is horrid and draughty.

I've got the cash but it seems SO much :(

About 15 years ago I had a quote for about £900 for a new front door with all the accessories so I can well believe you were quoted that now.

Can you find a handyman on Trust a Trader or something? You can get a Composite door on eBay for around £600 brand new.

We had a new upvc door fitted in feb, it was £900. It was a local company in north west. Maybe shop around

I recently got 6 windows and a upvc front and back door for 3600! This was ‘homer’ price so ask around x

I would get a few quotes though especially from local companies rather than the big multi nationals.

Its a local guy we've used before
Sorry should have mentioned that

We paid £900 for a new composite front door five years ago from a national company. A local company (who we would much prefer to have supported) quoted double for the same door.

Ah.
Yeah. That's my concern. Sigh.
More quotes then

It depends on the size. What’s your house like? If you live in a new build with a standard size door frame it should cost less. If the door frame is bigger than usual it’ll cost more, but you can still get a cheap standard sized door and custom side sized panels round the edge. If you have a smaller frame then the door will have to be made to measure, which is pricey.

Also, glass panels and leaded glass bump up the price, as do certain finishes.

Is it coloured, and how big is the side panel, is furniture included? I have been quoted about £750 for a glazed upvc door and frame, fitted and vat inc - back door so no furniture beside the handle. It is £200 more for colour on one side only. I have also had quotes for some very small windows which are around £400 each. So if your side panel is large, and you need to add door furniture, and the door is coloured your quote doesn't sound too bad to me. I'm in the SE.

We had a quote for £1200 but got a handy man instead and it was £600 and he did a great job.

That was in June this year.

I had a composite door fitted in January for £800 by a local company, which seemed a pretty decent price.

I had a solidor composite door fitted last year and it was around £1200 , looks way better than a upvc one .

Its a normal sized door.
Full length side panel.
I'd like black composite I think.

We got a quote from a large local firm, composite front and back door. The quote was £5500! That scared us off any more quotes.....

We got a "seconds" composite door for around £200. It was fitted by a friend for free.

We got quoted £4500 for ours, 2m x 2m though. Feck that, I'd rather spend the money on an awesome holiday and suffer the cold
