Nice places to buy in Sussex

I am currently in Surrey but want to move to Sussex. Have been looking around Chichester, Arundel, Shoreham. Don’t want Brighton or further east. Don’t mind being inland a bit Horsham would be my limit. Just don’t know the places to avoid so any advice would be great. Also anyone know how busy Brighton airport is, before Covid?

Do you mean Shoreham airport? Steyning/ Albourne/ Henfield areas lovely. Also look at Crowborough/ Lewes/ Hayward’s Heath. Not keen on Burgess Hill. Horsham is lovely - good schools and nice town. The villages around it are nice too.

Many thanks -Yes it is Shoreham Airport. is it just private flying or commercial? The property I have seen is literally just over the water.
Thankfully don't need schools anymore!
What about Storrington?

I always suggest Petworth, Midhurst and surrounding villages on these posts. I used to love spending time exploring the bits around the A272.

Some commercial stuff at the airport, charter flights to Le Toquet, UK cities, Cornwall, Luxembourg and some European cities - all small aircraft. Sight seeing and business helicopter flights and flying lessons. The road out of Shoreham A27 is really noisy so if you are thinking of Shoreham Beach you want to be as near to the beach and away from the A road as possible.

If you want to be on the train line into London then Hassocks/Keymer is a large Village with lots of amenities and is quiet and near lots of great walks and countryside. Ditchling village is also very nice (not on train line) like everything it partly depends on your budget and what facilities you want to have on your doorstep.

Shoreham airport is not busy apart from light aircraft and the occasional helicopter - it has a nice 1930's terminal that they use for period dramas and it has a cafe with an outside area overlooking the apron - go and have a cuppa and check it out.

What’s your budget? Do you need good transport links? Town or village? What facilities are important to you? Do you want easy access to hills or coast or both?

My budget is £450,000 as am downsizing so no mortgage needed. My son is at college in Guildford - living there during the week, home at weekends - so could do with trains fairly close, he is growing up so not the be all and end all of my search really - and I drive, but would still like the odd day up in London. Just need to feel safe really and not worried about leaving my home for a couple of days - obviously this was pre covid and my work my never return to what is was before.
Am off to Shoreham tomorrow hopefully so will pop into the airport for a cuppa and a loo break!!!! Thanks for all your info it is really helpful

No train station at Midhurst / Petworth but Haslemere is just up the road. For your budget you could also look at Chichester and surrounding villages? Easy to lock up and leave for a few days.

Pulborough station is 4 miles from Petworth.

From Midhurst you’d most likely go to Haslemere to get the train into London for an occasional trip. Quicker and cheaper.

But yes, from Petworth you can go to Pulborough to go into London Victoria.

Storrington is a lovely village with a good community. It has a lot of independent shops and tea rooms, Waitrose and a new doctors surgery. Easy to get onto the South Downs, lots of good walks. We have been here for 6 years and are moving back to Brighton for work and college. Pm me if you want more details as we are on the market.
