So our chain has completed & we are all moving forwards. Our buyers are cash. We’ve applied for our mortgage. Not 100% at the top of the chain but surveys are getting booked in etc.. all in all we are hoping to complete by December. But I’m really anxious we are heading for another lockdown.. it seemed like we def wouldn’t but now I’ve seen it floating around on the news etc..

What happened with house moves during the last one? Did everything pause or did things carry on?! We need to move by January due to school applications as we are relocating. It’s giving me serious anxiety!

I had my offer accepted the Thursday before lockdown in March. We completed on Friday 14th August.

The lockdown may delay it but wouldn't stop it

We are nervous too- solicitors estimations were for completion in 10 weeks (we’ve already been conveyancing for 4 weeks!) but everything is so slow at the moment- there are 5 in our chain we are slap bang in the middle.... nervously awaiting completion due in December

During full lockdown the market was put on ice. No viewings etc.

Solicitors first conveyancing were still working. Searches and responses were slower. Physical moves into empty houses were allowed. A large volume of removal firms weren’t working in my area. Exchange and complete was on the same day.

Our chain completed middle of July, surveys and raised enquiries done, mortgage done, twiddling my thumbs, not heard from solicitors in 2 weeks. You might be cutting it fine for January but presumably there was a reason for not moving earlier just to be sure you were in by January
